Lady Cats

I'll be at the game in Memorial. I know some on here make light of women's basketball but this year's women's team is really a fun team to watch. I encourage those in the Lexington area to get to the game if you haven't seen them and you might just be surprised at how well they play.

Honestly I haven't watched them much. I used to go to games often when living in Lexington. What do we look like inside? Is it the the same type of team where we should expect Sweet 16/Elite 8 as the ceiling or would they have a real shot to make the Final 4 finally with the right draw (i.e. not in UCONN's bracket)? The lack of girls that could really get it done down low has hurt them and it seems that if Mitchell could have recruited a few elite big players he would have made a Final 4 by now.

I know women's basketball is so top heavy with no parody. I would just like to see them break through and make the Final 4 once. No one not named UCONN is going to win the title. It really is like you could just ship the trophy to Storrs just about every year. Hopefully that ends soon.

I agree they are fun to watch, especially the little Epps lady. She is very talented.

They have one of the best inside players in the country in 6'3" Evelyn Akhator.

Plus Alexis Jennings, Alyssa Rice and freshman Batouly Camara are all talented inside players.

They have an All American in Epps leading the way who is virtually unstoppable.

Very exciting team to watch

They have an elite 8 ceiling as long as they keep getting in the same bracket as freaking UCONN.

The lack of girls with talent and size down low to play at that level, is just a product of nature. They are few and far between and the ones that do exist wind up at the 4 or 5 top echelon programs, (UConn, Notre Dame, UT, Stanford..) its really hard to find those kind of recruits and convince them to come to UK.

It's hard to get into the women's team, because no matter how good they are, they are never going to be in the league of UConn or the 2 or 3 other top teams. So, a FF is about the best you could hope for, and to even get that far, they would have to beat a #1 seed. And they always get stuck in UConn's bracket, so.....

final fours are a good thing. Never know which way the ball bounces. Happy New Year to all

Pretty much. Of course last year we lost well before then in the 2nd round.
