Lady Cats up by 17....

  1. Team has a nice make up, athletic bigs that are big and plenty of ball handlers and shooters, too bad they lost the others that transfered out. Was looking forward to seeing that oregon player that came in last year.

The two players that quit the team last month is sitting three rows behind the UK bench. What's up with that?

The 3 players they lost this year? Were they significant? They seem to be doing ok without them.

Yes, they were outstanding players but felt they were recruited over, it seems. Epps is playing her best game of season and has 15 at the half with some steals and boards to go along with it. At the game and the Cats look pretty tough.

I'll be interested to see how they @MTSU and have Duke coming up soon. MTSU seems to be down this year, but they have beaten UK in Murfreesboro before in the 2011-2012 season, but UK won there 2 years ago. Duke is Duke, so will be a challenge I'm sure having beat UK the last two years.

I didn't know that the lady's were going to the quarter system instead of halves. What exactly is the point of having 4 10 min quarters instead of 2 20 min halves?

Restart team fouls each quarter so not as much time spent shooting FT's to keep game moving faster, supposedly

Because college is the only level of basketball that doesn't use four quarters. They thought it stupid (it is) and instead of taking decades to change the rules when they decide they need changing, like with men's basketball and football, they just went ahead and did it because it makes sense.

Akhator doesn't score a lot but she rebounds and is all over the court. One of those 110% type players.

Personally, I don't like quarters. Naismith invented the game with halves, not quarters.

This is the test year with women and next year it will happen in the men's game.

The Oregon transfer was dismissed. The other three left for personal reasons which happens in women's sports more then the men's programs.

Karl Benz didn't invent the car with a supercharger. But the longer you have something, the more you can refine it and turn it into something better.

Men's college basketball is now the only level in the world that doesn't use quarters.

Ive always hated the change to 2 halves in college. I would much rather have 4 quarters.

For a team is supposed turmoil with all the transfers ( or so you would think if you listened to the radio or read the papers or message boards) the girls are playing awfully well. Undefeated and a top 10 ranking.

Curious that anyone is moved to any kind of emotion over the issue. Other than resetting team fouls, I don't see any difference. Same amount of time. IMO, it's just another way they are trying to make the college game like the pros. I'm not bothered by it, but I do not want the college game to be too much like the NBA.

I guess maybe I need to watch a UConn game, because whenever I watch a UK game, I am just never that impressed.

Then don't think of it in nba terms. Think of it as adopting high school, or aau, or middle school, or any other level.

Are you just not impressed with the UK women or the women's game in general? You have to take it for what it is. They aren't high flying dunkers, the game is more finesse, shooting, passing, and driving. I like watching the UK women play, mainly because I know what to expect.

No, Uk's women won't compete with a UConn, they and a small handful of other programs are at that elite level where you can almost hand them the trophy. To me they are boring to watch because the outcome is generally predetermined unless they are playing one of the 2 or 3 other teams in the country that might have a punchers chance.

With the women there are only a handful of truly elite women players that are tall and talented. those hanful of girls gravitate towards those very few power schools. It's hard for UK to recruit a 6-7 talented girl because there just isn't near as many of them as there are 6'-8" to 7'-0" talented men. most teams might be lucky enough to have one girl over 6'-6" while a team like UConn, UT, Notre Dame, might have 3 or 4. It's kinda like football in that respect. The same 5 or 6 teams year in and year out competing for championships and dominating recruiting.

I think you hit all the points why I don't watch women's basketball. I only take a peak at UK's games from time to time, so I can't say whether UConn and Baylor would be that entertaining, but I doubt it for the reasons you stated.

what happened Louisville ???? thought they were supposed to have the greatest recruiting class of all time :joy::joy::joy:

True, but I could just as easily rattle off traditional things that have not changed, and for the better. It just boils down to personal taste. I don't prefer quarters.

Mitchell doesn't seem to be the type of coach that makes excuses for his team.

You know what you are gonna get with Mitchell. A solid to good team each year that makes the NCAA tourney, but has 0% shot at the Final Four. I think most of us fans accept that, so the expectation level for Mitchell is almost zilch...so less pressure on him than Stoops or Cal.

I'll sign up for quarters if we can have less commercials interrupting game time. Just pack all those commercials during the quarter breaks, I'll pee, get a drink, dance a jig, whatever. Just no more of this "Back from 10 min or commercials, he inbounds the ball, guy dribbles it off his foot, out of bounds, 10 more min of commercials!" crap.

Hip hip hooray for the women's team or something. Meh.

we'll have to agree to disagree. outside of ancient superstitions about egotistical space scientists with self-esteem issues, i can't think of anything that wasn't bettered over the years. and this rabbit hole is already deeper than message board nonsense should be.

Lol, yep, but I wasn't talking about technology. For instance, i say Merry Christmas. I prefer listening to Cawood call a game. I don't like many of the new NFL rules that are ruining the game. Like I said, just a personal taste thing.
