split, lost away by 4 and won in double-overtime in Frankfort. Snapped a 17-game losing streak. Scoring was led by mostly WKU signees. Hell hath froze over!

This series needs to die now after we won, lol.

Indiana has been owning this series for years; this should come as no surprise. It's like a South Carolina all-star football team trying to play one from Florida. Kentucky routinely got spanked.

Yep. It took a double-overtime thriller, but they FINALLY got one. It'd been looking like the Ky boys would never win a game again. Congrats, boys.

Pretty sad what's become of that series. I remember when it was considered a big deal, packed arenas, everyone really cared--it was a lot of fun back in the old days. But nowadays it's just become this embarrassing thing where you sorta avert your eyes and try not to notice those scores each June.

Pretty sad what's become of that series. I can still remember when it was considered a big deal, packed arenas, everyone really cared--it was a lot of fun back in the old days. Was jumping in to post but you got all my thoughts with your second paragraph.

I used to go to that game for years. Haven't been in a while now. It was non competitive and since Cal has arrived we rarely have a UK recruit playing. I guess last time I went, Dom and Willis played.
Now, it looks like only friends and family show up.... and not too many friends

I haven't been to one since the 70's,they used to be something special.Good talent always back in the day from both states.

I noticed that too when I saw the clips. Such a striking difference from how it used to be.

I remember driving up to watch the game in Indy after my HS senior year (86). It packed out a 17,000 seat NBA Arena, the crowd was raucous and into it (Rex Chapman put on a show that night), I remember nearly bumping into Larry Bird courtside only about a week after he'd just won the NBA championship and swept every MVP trophy when he about the biggest sports celebrity in the entire world at the time, there were TV crews and familiar faces all around, it felt very much like a big time sporting event. And it was a similar story when the games were played here in Freedom Hall back in the 70s and 80s.

Now I see footage of these games in Frankfort with the empty dead gym and a crowd that essentially just looks like friends, family and a few locals. ...damn, what a sad difference and stark reminder of how much things have changed and how old I'm becoming.
