For those of you KSR followers, this is the big announcement Matt has been hinting at. Barstool is acquiring KSR with plans to launch a KSR mobile sportsbook when expanded gaming gets legalized in KY.

Nice get for them. As much as I dislike jones I always respect what he did building something from nothing.
Also sheds some light on his continuous pushing legalizing gambling in ky. Everything he says and does is for his benefit. Again, I understand that. Just be more transparent about it.
It’s an interesting gamble by Barstool....it appears Kentucky will be one of the last states to adopt legalized sports gambling. KSR is the preeminent name in sports in this state but it could be several years before there is any return on that investment.
Likely that Barstool knows something we don’t about the sports gambling situation in KY. I doubt they would make this acquisition without knowing expanding gaming is coming to KY within the next year or two
God...I hope you’re right but I have serious doubts this iteration of the statehouse will play ball on either sports gambling or marijuana legalization.
Sports gambling will be the compromise with the horse tracks. It seems their historical gaming machines will soon be shut down. The alternative is giving them the sports book operations in state , well at least those you walk up to and bet. Beshear will announce a major budget disaster cause of covid and all political parties will be compensated for their vote.
FYI, I think sports gambling is fine if you choose. And it’s better to be done legally than calling your local bookie which many of us do.

Don't see anyont commenting but is it possible that KSR now gets turned into a pay-site? No matter how you feel about Matt Jones KSR had valuable UK Sports info. I know that based upon the multitude of posts here where I would read a poster putting in the same information like they discovered it rather than quoting the source.....

Jones used to annoy me with his constant political takes on what was supposed to be a UK sports show. Then a few years ago I just stopped listening and it was like he never existed.
I agree on the investor part. I don't think they create that much revenue. Could be wrong. It's a niche market.

God he's so full of himself. Spent the first 30 min of the show letting us know how big and important he thinks he is. Just tweet it out and be done with it. I don't want the entire first hour of the show dedicated to it just because he wants everyone to kiss his ass.

Jones provides a service for a rabid fan base. He has a radio show (including pre game and post game) that connects the fans everyday. Love him, hate him, doesn't matter. KSR is here to stay. I for one enjoy his show.

This is unfortunately becoming true, but will be even more so in the future. Taking away opportunities to see the game in person, whether in Lexington, Atlanta, Nashville or even when they played some home games in Louisville is in large part why the fan base became so rabid. Nothing like seeing a game in person to experience the fervor.
Even though we all hope this "full or partial ban" on being able to attend games ends sometime this year, I'm afraid that youngsters that must keep any fan base being fervent are just not into playing or watching sports as past generations were. If it doesn't come with a controller or on an app on a phone, they just don't care.
This apathy applies to all sports and all teams. It's saddens me.

Yeah I’m sure we’ll be last of all the states around us on both fronts. I’m sure we’ll gladly send our money out of state instead of being proactive and cashing in for maybe a year or two at this point before we lose the head start we could have had. Oh well.
