Okay... someone help out a dummy. So, I am looking to get tickets to opening day of KPP. There are no reserved seats left, which is understandable. So, I am looking at GA tickets and there are types… they are labeled as general admission dugout and general admission berm. I imagine the berm is the grass area. What is the general admission dugout? The seating chart seems to show that it is an L shaped section. Are these the blue chairback seats directly behind the dugout, or is it the concrete area(s) next to that?

Assuming it is the chairback section, how does this work? You don’t get to pick any particular seat on ticketmaster, so is this just entirely first to arrive picks where they want to sit?

Thanks for helping out the ignorant. haha

Yes I believe that is correct GA dugout is chairback first come first serve... It was larger but most season ticket holders wanted a guaranteed spot so the expanded the reserved section and made the GA smaller.

Thank you very much. I'm partly trying to decide whether to get a ticket for my 2 year old, just in case she is stubborn and wants her own seat. It wouldn't make sense to get one for her for the berm area, but makes more sense to get one for her for the chairback area.

The general admission dugout seating is between the dugouts and the "wall" to the terrace (on both home and visitors side) Remember home is 3rd base side now. They are first come first serve. Also, the new seats are larger and the aisles are much wider. GET THERE EARLY as there are not that many general admission seats anymore.

The berm is way too steep for her. Also, there is a fully-enclosed netted play area for kids along left field line. Not sure if they are going to have some play sets or inflatables up there or not.

She was so good last year!!!!

Thanks! It wasn't extremely clear on ticketmaster what was what. Seems to me it just makes more sense to sell one ticket per seat, but I guess they can sell more this way.

I am going to try to get there super early considering that it is first game in a new stadium. I imagine the weather might not cooperate and could scare off some people, but it will still be pretty busy just because of the new stadium angle. I think I am just going to try to drive up that morning and play around Lexington with the family until it is close to the time the gates open, and then I'll head over there... probably with a ton of blankets in tow.

I hope she is good again. Last year the music, stomping, and clapping and stuff kept her attention, so I hope that will happen again. A little worried about what the weather might be and keeping her out there too long if it is cold, but we will cross that bridge when we get there.

I know weather changes at the drop of the hat but the expanded forecast calls for partly sunny and 38 that day. But, of course, it'll probably change when we get to the 26th.

What is the reasoning for not selling an assigned seat? I was going to come down with my family but I can’t get there early from Indianapolis to ensure we will sit together so we aren’t going. Seems like an odd approach.

I guess the point is that technically they can oversell those tickets with the assumption that some people won't show up. So, money.

When do you think you'd be able to get to the game, and how many people will you have?

As for seating, most games other than SEC and UofL should be fine. But speaking of UofL, I read/heard that all seats for that game would be assigned with the exception of the berm and terrace. At least I think I may have.

Not 100% sure yet due to my son's HS baseball team commitment. Will either have 4 or 5 so I would just buy 5 tickets. But we might not get there right until game time. Not a big deal but just odd to me. I buy season football tickets to come down and see my daughter who is a JR but would never buy a ticket without a specified seat.

I could try to hold some seats for you, but I'm not sure how long I'd get away with it and if they frown upon it.

Sounds good. I have a 2 and a half year old, I try to box her in with the seats. Lol

Does the new stadium allow coolers on the berm(s) for the students? Went to a game last year and the right field pavilion was packed and jumping.

I don't think the student area is the berm. I think it will be near the bullpen. Not sure if it's ours or the visitors.

Last year the parking lot behind the Cliff was considered "off-campus", this year, the area around KPP is considered "on-campus", so I don't think any music, cooler or alcohol will be allowed.

I really think they need to try to basically recreate The Cliff. Even if they have to just turn a blind eye to the music and alcohol, if it encourages the students to go to the games because they have fun, then do it.

By the way, I know we discussed some parking here before, but I don't really remember now. Where are the best places to park for Tuesday, especially considering that classes will be in?

Parking will be an adventure (again). The lot right in front of the stadium is going to be ticketed for big wig donors, the players, coaches and 4 handicap spots. The next available parking will be the Purple lot down next to the softball/soccer complex. The good thing about this lot is there will be a way to get into the park from the left field fence (but if you have to go to the ticket window you will still have to walk all the way to the front gate). Down side is I think they can only hold about 50 car max.

From there it will be the Blue and Green lots at Commonwealth Stadium. They are going to run a shuttle from these two lots to the front of KPP (but if its like the one they ran for the NCAA soccer games it will be one bus that hits both of these lots, as in a loop.)

The secrete lot may be the Blue overflow lot next to Greg Page Apartment complex. It may be the closest walk of lot of all these secondary lots to the front gate/ticket window to KPP. But there will not be a shuttle from this lot to the stadium.

One question is how many spots will be available to baseball at Kroger field on a weekday being as the blue lot is a regular parking lot for most freshman students. Most don't move their cars until the weekend. Or am I getting this confused with the red lot?

I don't know if there will be many spots left for the "big donors", considering once the players, coaches and umpires park in front, they take up most of that front lot.

Just hope the UK campus police understand these early season games are at 4pm!!

Yea Chill133 I think you are thinking of the Red lot where most of the students park (some of it spills over to the Blue lot but most of those parkers are closer to Nicholasville Rd side of things due to proximity of the shuttle bus stop for main campus).

But if we take UK at their word, the Blue lot should be open for parking at noon for those 4:00 pm first pitch games during the week (game day page says lots open up 4 hrs prior to first pitch).

The other interesting thing is Terrace seating area. You cannot bring in your own chair but you can rent one at the stadium ($3 for a single game or if you wish you can reserve one for the entire season at $34, and there are 34 home games).

GameDay info is on UKathletics.com website.

I think it's interesting for the students.

I was looking for that earlier. I guess they knew I was looking for it.

I just think the deck is a better place for students. Give them some freedom to kind of party and hang out and they will be more likely to attend. As it is, I think the student attendance will really decrease.

The Cliff was so close to the dorms too, now either walk all the way over or find parking.

Disappointed for the students that they don’t have the party deck on the outfield wall. No alcohol music and a long way from the dorms. I don’t think student attendance will be very good without the party deck. But that seems par for the curse. That deck was an integral part of Cliff Hagan Stadium and attracted many students most who came to socialize. I don’t think they were hard core baseball fans but came to support the team and enjoy the atmosphere out there. Wish Mitch and Nick would rethink the deck. I bet the team does as well.i I talked to one of the volunteers out there and he said the students were polite and cleaned up when they left. No problems at all. I don’t think they offended anyone.
