Kobi Simmons speaks on finals days of recruitment

Let's hope Fox commits. I really don't want to hear the back lash Cal will receive if Fox goes elsewhere and we also Lose Simmons. I like the gamble. In recruiting sometimes the risk is worth it when the reward is so great. I won't be bashing. I understand the reasoning and I agree with Cal.

I will be honest I wouldn't trade Fox for him but Simmons is a lottery pick after one year as well and I want him bad . So hope Cal can convince him to play with Fox .

I'll be surprised if he's a lottery pick after one year. Has work to do to get there.

Is it weird that I feel genuinely bad for the kid? A consensus top 20 talent and the school he desperately wants to attend won't accept his commitment. He is likely going to be a McDonald's All American and we STILL may not take him. Crazy crazy times with Cal's unprecedented recruiting prowess.

I stopped reading and changed my outlook on his IQ when he said he and Jaylen Fischer could be a John Wall-Bledsoe type duo. I don't care if he was talking in context of 2 PG's playing side to side, they are no where near that level.

Do we know for sure that he desperately wants to commit to UK, or that Cal won't accept his commitment? Or is that speculation?

Spot on, Aike. Only Cal and Simmons can answer those questions and for someone on this board to make such bold statements is just foolish assumption.

No speculation...had Sept. 19th announcement date. Visited UK, was asked to wait....cancelled his announcement.

Don't know where he stands as of now but it's the truth

How do you know this? The part about moving his announcement date is public, but how do you know who he was going to pick, who told him to wait, etc.?

If you know all of that, great. I'm just trying to make sense of things other than reading tea leaves.

That comment caught me off guard also. I'm sure those two would be very good together, especially in the Mountain West, but they won't be on a Wall/Bledsoe level.

You have to understand that these kids are being told by people around then that they are the next Michael Jordan, lebron James or Kobe Bryant from the time they are in 7th grade. Every kid in the top 75 is told that, let alone a top 25 kid. Then they're flown around and recruited for high school! So, I'm not surprised at any comparison anymore.

It's good to see Humphries listed as the first center taken in 2017. He's ahead of Thon Maker and Jerret Allen, kinda surprised me.

Perhaps Fox commits, then Monk and Simmons allow our season to play out a bit and see how Ulis, Briscoe and Murray handle sharing the load. That scenario is closer than determining if Simmons and Fox can play together.

I would say if Fox commits followed by Monk, then Simmons is going elsewhere.

If we get all 3, then perhaps ESPN can't find a way for Duke top the rankings. This year's results are a laugh.

I disagree. Remember that the NBA drafts on potential or ceiling. Simmons has an extremely high ceiling. He has Kobe Bryant type athleticism. (Not saying he is anywhere near as good as Kobe Bryant, but has that type athleticism)

he's waiting to see what Fox does. Don't see a scenario where UK takes both unless Cal doesn't like his position with Monk.

This is what I was thinking. If Cal thinks that Monk is going to pull the trigger, for Arkansas, then he may really push for Simmons, alongside Fox. Otherwise, I think Cal waits to see Monk's decision. Whether Simmons will wait that long, who knows, but I have to believe that either UNLV, or Ohio State, will wait on him.

I would really like to take Simmons if he knew that he'd need to be in school for at least 2 years. I could be dead wrong about him as a player, but something about him tells me he is not a one and done, of course there's the debate on what qualifies as one.

If he still wanted to commit after UK lands Fox and hypothetically Monk, then I think you take him for sure. Then you know for sure how badly he wants to be a Cat.

Obviously though I realize that's an enormous long-shot.
