Putting such crazy expectations a team nearly FULL of freshmen in a down recruiting year is dangerous at best. This team will have more than a few bumps in the road.
Still a lot of question marks on that roster, not the least of which are: 1) does Diallo leave Or stay, and 2) what is Vanderbilt's recovery schedule? Injuries can get into a player's head, especially when they become frequent. I feel like Harry Giles lost his mojo on the last one and never really got it back. Hopefully, Jarred is 100% before long, because his potential is sky high.
I tend to think the same. It's one thing to have a freshmen lead or dominated team, it's another to have just a freshmen team which is essentially what we'll be minus
Gabriel's pretty spare minutes last season.

Yes, I remember when we signed that monster class that included the Harrisons and many others. We all thought they'd dominate the competition, but the regular season was pretty rough. Still, that team went all the way to the title game, so you never know.
I would agree it would be wise to hold our horses on making many bold predictions. I will say this, though, with the addition of Knox, the outlook is much more positive in my view. Knox is the kind of guy, with elite athleticism but some minor flaws to his game that are more about effort and focus than about ability, who will thrive in this system, which demands more of star players than others, who tend to coddle the elites.
I agree but I really think this class is better than that 2013 class. If we get Bamba, it's the best recruting haul Cal has ever hauled in, top to bottom. IMO.

Maybe so, if we get Bamba. That's a huge statement to make, as you know, given the quality of Calipari's classes. The question that remains to be seen is this: is this class, overall, as strong as previous classes? If this class is a down year, the numbers won't mean the same. From a numbers perspective, you're right. Whether or not that translates to wins could be another matter. I tend to see the glass half full, though, so I'm excited.
Exactly, from a numbers perspective. It may not end up being the best, but on paper, it does seem like it. My thing is that we basically got two, maybe three, elite SFs in one class. Unbelievable. Finally.
Win Cal's second and shush the doubters for good. Until then, the hype machine spins against us.
You can say that again Cowtown Cat. I love the small forwards we've got in this class. It's an embarrassment of riches, as they say. Knox is the crown jewel in that regard. He's got the elite athleticism of Monk. He's a high flyer. Vanderbilt is long and a tenacious defender. PJ Washington is smooth as silk and can score from anywhere. Can you imagine seeing those 3 guys coming at you on a break? Add in Bamba and opposing coaches might be crying when they start scouting the Cats. But even without Bamba, this team is going to be stacked. The good news is, all 3 of those guys who could play the wing can also play multiple positions. We could see line-ups with Knox at the 2, Washington at the 3, and Vanderbilt at the 4- or you could mix them all up and truly go "positionless", as Cal has been saying. Put Green at point and Bamba at center and opponents are screaming.
Down recruiting year? Not one expert has said this a down recruiting year. Down compared to last year which was exceptional bout average recruiting year. And a down year in college hoops. Besides we come into form by march and heck you guys should know we would have smoked your butt in 14 if not for Higgins and the most ridiculously bad flop in history and an injury to arguably are defensive shot blocking beast.
Yes, interchangeable parts with those three. They can all play various positions and are all extremely versatile. You could also lump Gabriel and SKJ in there as well when talking about versatility. I would also like to add that Vanderbilt and Washington are both very good rebounders. They say Washington is probably the best rebounder in the entire class. Damn, I really hope Diallo returns. I feel as if he would be that one missing piece, if not.
I thought he was 6'7" from something posted by a fan saturday.
I see now he's listed at different places as 6'8"/6'9," barefoot and w/shoes i guess.
I didn't realize he was that tall. i hadn't really followed him much since the consensus was that he was dook bound.
I just hope Diallo returns so we don't see those endless "the missing piece" threads all season long. That and him returning takes this team from very good to dominant.
