Kerr Kriisa back to West Virginia

Wow, wonder what the highest offer was?

Welp, let's break it down. 9.9ppg on 31 mpg. 36% from 3, and 37% from 2.

Players literally should of just been made employees by the University.

Give them $50K a year and end this madness

This is why there needs to be changes in the NIL and I think in a year or two we may see that happening. It is destroying the sports.

I've got 7.50 .. thats about it .. I mean I dont know his name , image or likeness .

"College" sports are a joke at this point.

None of these players is worth anything close to this money unless you start literally profit-sharing with the Athletic Departments.

There's got to be a correction at some point. The market demands it.
Yeah. But I can’t see how the top pros (in the big 3 sports) are wordy 30-50M/yr. How!? $3M/gm in football, $600k/gm in basketball, $250K/gm in baseball ($1M/gm for a pitcher)

This isn't communism. A 5 star stud qb at bama shouldn't get the same as some bozo online man at MTSU.

Well until recently both were being payed nothing but a Scholarship.

At least that's what the public was told. We know they were paid behind closed doors

I'm sure there's all sorts of funny math going on in these organizations... salary cap and profit sharing ensures at least some tethers to reality, I would guess.

NIL can help pay for these athletes through the University if the University can't afford it. (Which I doubt they couldn't)

Bottom line this should have all been standardized and not become a free market.

Maybe so, but 50k won't be the cap. A kid like Anthony Davis should make 6 figures easy.

The NCAA needs to come up with an NIL pay structure, for example each team can pay up to 1 Million for the top player, the second best player receives up to $750,000, the 3rd $500,000, 4th best $450,000, if they don’t do something then these players are all going to transfer out to the highest bidder. What’s currently happening is terrible and will only get worse, if not addressed by the NCAA.

With this method it's gonna be more dog crap ncaa final fours like last season with random teams. Parity isn't a good thing for UK

Basically a Salary cap, I guess?

You missed the point, if all things are equal, UK will win out almost every time. Currently NIL and the NBA are the 2 most important things to the players. there’s no better school at turning out NBA players.

Those numbers are only slightly worse than Arthur Kaluma’s numbers who some on this board made out to be a superstar. Somehow guys in the portal are super human now, they gain special powers by being in the portal.

That’s pay for play, not NIL. Pay for play is not legal per NCAA rules. The NCAA has no standing to limit a players name image and likeness.

Welcome to the free market where player get what the market says they’re worth. Are you advocating for a system of socialism where the NCAA sets how much money players can make and no the market?

“Back”? He’s not yet ever attended a single practice there.

Jeez, college basketball has gotten so crazy that we now need an announcement that a player is “returning” to a school he just joined a month or two ago.

NIL can’t be capped. You can’t hinder what a person makes. The NBA has salaries but doesn’t have anything to do with NIL. NBA players can make whatever they want outside of the league using NIL. College players or anyone else has that ability.

The schools don't play players. Businesses that want to use their name, image or likeness to promote their business are who pays. There is no minimum or maximum. The business decides what it's worth to them use that player's N, I or L. They player can accept or decline.

Hailey Van Lith was one of the highest NIL earners in college while at Louisville. She will be at LSU. It's not about the school. It's about the business owners.

The schools can help put the athletes in contact with the businesses and coordinate it. And they could hinder it by not having processes in place to support the transactions.

But the amount of money paid is decided by business owner's perceived value of worth. And they will reevaluate that worth on a regular basis.

Kaluma is a stretch 4 that shoots 31% from 3 on a shit ton of attempts. Also shoots it much better from 2. 12 and 6 guy. Was a much bigger need than another guard.

I wasn’t saying we needed the guard, I was talking about how much guys are hyped up just because they’re in the portal.
