It looks like we'll see the return of the Kentucky Wildcats alumni game in Rupp Arena.

Instead of former UK alumni taking on a team of villains though, this matchup will be against a team of North Carolina alum, according to Kentucky Sports Radio:

We’ve been told there could potentially be a UK vs. UNC game in Rupp Arena, with John Wall and Harrison Barnes serving as team captains. The game will feature several NBA stars from the two schools and it will coincide with Coach Cal’s fantasy camp, as we’ve seen with alumni games in the past.

The rivalry/alumni game isn’t set in stone just yet, but several people are working hard to try to make it a reality. Look toward the second weekend in September as a possible date if (or when) it is going down.

The 2014 UK Alumni Charity Game, originally scheduled for last August, was cancelled due to a lack of participants, as well as the horrific injury Paul George suffered while playing in a Team USA exhibition game.

The 2013 UK Alumni Game featured Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Anthony Davis, Terrence Jones and Patrick Patterson, Brandon Knight and John Wall playing against a team of UK villains. It also raised a reported $1,005,000 for 17 charities.

I'm not sure NC Cheats can fill a team without going to the nursing homes to get enough players together.
Who is in the NBA from NC still playing that could participate... MJ has to be at least 50 and not able to run up and down the floor with all those young wildcats. UK would crush the Cheats.... in the name of charity of course....

Those guys will be as eligible as the Carolina players we've faced in the past, so go for it.

Lawson/Green/Barnes/Davis/Henson is a pretty solid lineup though. If our best guys play, of course we roll them, but that isn't a bad crew.

I am going back to fantasy camp this year. Really hope this happens!!

Word is we may see a UK vs UNCheat** Alumni Game in Rupp with John Wall and Harrison Barnes as the captain's.

list of UNC players in the NBA:

1. Harrison Barnes
2. Vince Carter
3. Ed Davis
4. Wayne Ellington
5. Raymond Felton
6. Danny Green
7. PJ Hairston
8. Tyler Hansbrough
9. Brendan Haywood
10. John Henson
11. Ty Lawson
12. James Michael McAdoo
13. JP Tokoto
14. Marvin Williams
15. Brandan Wright
16. Tyler Zeller

UK's best NBA guys would win by 20+ against that roster.

Only 2-3 of those guys are worth a s#=t

Huge mistake. We should not be lending credibility or associating with those cheating SOBs.

Hmmm, that's a good point. Why help them? That's on par with needlessly breathing life into the IU Loosiers program.

We should play an alumni game with Louisville. Now THAT would be fun to watch. It'd be like watching a tennis match between Roger Federer and Steven Hawking.

we'll take mccants for this one.

You can have him.

And 100% of the college education.

Considering your five starters would all be guys that stayed only one year, that statement is a bit of a stretch. I mean, I get the attempt at humor, but you could have done better.

UK would have arguably the best 6-7 players in the game.

Maybe not 6-7 but certainly 3 and maybe another. Davis, Cousins and Wall would be the headliners, but people sleep on how terrific Lawson is. He's the most underrated guard in the league, IMO. He had a bad year shooting last year and still averaged 16 and 9. Needs to be a better leader though. Henson, Wright and Davis are all underrated as well.

I would be superexcited for this game if it were to happen. We'd lose, but it would still be fun. College basketball goes in cycles. No doubt UK is on top, but we'll be back. I am certain of that.

Here's to hoping this happens.

Depends who else for UK plays. If Towns plays...your boy Lawson isn't beating him out. I'm also not sure he is better than Bledsoe and Knight...and Kanter is going to dominate now that he is in a proper system that plays him/uses him. And yes he counts...he went to classes for a year and practiced....and yes, he went to real classes.

No way Townes, who's never played in an NBA game can be considered a better player than Lawson, who has been a borderline all-star in the NBA. C'mon man. Towns is the real deal. I like him a lot. But I think he needs to show at least something on the NBA level before we're going too far with our praise. I would consider Bledsoe and Knight better than Towns and basically on the same level as Lawson. But Lawson has been in a lead role a little longer. And I have no problem with Kanter counting towards UK. If he attended UK, then of course he should count. And yes, he showed to be a real gem for OKC on the offensive end but he plays Carlos Boozer style defense.

Would be fun to watch and would be great for charity. If both sides took the game seriously, it would be a blowout, no doubt. I believe the last alumni game brought in over $1,000,000 for charity, so in my opinion it is a no brainer to have the game. Now, whether the stars are willing to play is another story.

IIRC, there was such a matchup like this played in Frankfort, mid to late 70s. I want to say it involved some of the players from the Super Kittens era, maybe Jim Andrews as well? Don't remember who was on the UL team.

Towns would be one of three #1 overall picks for Kentucky. No way you can claim any UNC player is better than Wall, Davis, and Towns. Then, as you agreed, Cousins is also better than anyone UNC can put on the floor. Just look at the rosters like an NBA GM drafting players and probably the top 5-6 picks are all UK.

That said, until UNC fesses up with their cheating and at a minimum the '05 and '09 banners come down, we should not lend credibility to you cheaters as you still refuse to show true remorse for what you have done and also you have shown zero integrity in first creating a scheme couched in African American studies and now are actively trying to use women's basketball as a scapegoat for your men's team. Have you no decency?

You should write Cal a letter.

The less contact we have with those cheating sob's (at any and all levels)the better. If we never played them again in any sport it would be a good thing.

Towns would be an all-star THIS YEAR if he was in the East. His problem is going to be playing in the west. I think all-star appearances are overrated, and are popularity contests...cause once you get one the fans keep voting you in for more.

Lawson is a very solid player, but Towns is better. Towns would not even start in this game though and they play different positions so it is apples to oranges anyways a bit. Unless UK just really wanted to humiliate UNC down low and go Cousins at C, Towns at PF, and AD at SF (as Towns and AD can shoot jumpers pretty well)....now that front court would destroy little UNC's.

So no GM would have traded Lawson to take KAT #1 in the draft, or how many GMs would trade the #1 pick for Lawson?

See how absurd that is.

I couldnt be more uninterested in this...surely im not the only one

Then why post in the thread?

It is July, and about the most boring sports time of the year unless you are just Mr. hardcore baseball guy (I love my Cardinals but come on now), so this is something that might be interesting for the fans in the off-season. It also might help with charity so it is fine by me.

All for it....would bring in a lot of cash for charity and be fun for UK and UNC fans.....

Not a bad topic i just have no interest in going to it...you know townes davis your mega stars wont be allowed to play

Agree Completelly. Totally inappropriate and inopportune at this point in time. UK should distance itself from UNC basketball.
