Kentucky vs Bama (Friday)

Let’s hope they can pull it together tonight.

Alabama has played a murderers row of a first half, having series against Arkansas (1-2), Ole Miss (0-3), Tennessee (1-2), and TAMU (3-0) and Auburn (2-1). That is a pretty hard row to hoe and they still managed to come out 7-8, just as we did. So, this series is massive for both teams as basically it is life or death regarding our post season hopes.

Also, it is good to note that Alabama went through most of the year without their best pitcher, and one of the best pitchers in the country. Connor Prielipp returned last week to pitch on Saturday against Auburn. He only went 1 inning and seemingly struggled, and Alabama may very well work him back into it slowly, but by all accounts he should be available against us this weekend. That makes it that much tougher for us.

Alabama has also played in a whole lot of close games, so that is pretty interesting as well.

I would like to hope they will play in several more close games this weekend, but that may be too much to ask.

I assume game is on ESPN+? I will stream it if I get a chance.

Yea, should be on there. I think all SEC games are, except maybe the ones that are also on an ESPN channel like ESPNU.

This series is huge. I feel like a broken record saying that. But this one could potentially make or break the rest of the season.

Looks like Tyler Ras will get the start for Bama. He’s 5-1 on the year with a 4.28 ERA but is 3-0 in conference starts. 48 hits in 48.1 innings. As a team they’re hitting .277 and have hit 49 home runs. They have a catcher that has been tearing the cover off the baseball the last few weeks. Praytor is his name I believe. He leads the team with 11 home runs. Should be fun.

Alabama hasn't had much of a baseball program since Jim Wells retired 12 years ago. Pretty much been a cellar dweller since then. If UK has any hope at all of righting the ship it needs to start this weekend.

Bohannon is doing a respectable job reviving them, but has a ways to go.

You're right, certainly better than others in recent years. Don't forget ex-UK asst Greg Goff had a totally forgettable year or two there. Another example of the SEC moving forward while UK's stuck in reverse. Watched LSU-Ole Miss last night. The gap between those schools and UK is Grand Canyon in size.

One of the wildest games I’ve seen happened between these two. UK went up like 11-0 or something of the sort and Bama ended up coming back and won 12-11. I think that was in 2014.

*edit* I was way off. It was in 2010. Kentucky went up 9-0 and Bama scored 11 unanswered in the 6th and 8th.

Crazy stuff but baseball gets crazy sometimes.

Which is a good example, IMO, of why I don't want a mercy rule. Crazy stuff happens in this sport. Let it play out.

Our outfield is not good. One off the wall goes for a triple, hurt moreso by Schultz turning the wrong way and not being able to make any sort of play on the ball in center.

0-2 in the top 3rd. 2 outs, runner on 3rd. Stupp getting hit hard.

Another one fisted into right to score another run. Good hit there. 0-3

Another triple for Alabama... wow.

Schultz almost misplays another one. He has to do a jumping catch over his head to get it and kill that 2 out Bama rally.

Still 3 for them and 0 for us.

UK down 1-4, Bama with the bases loaded and 0 outs... make that 1-5 with 1 out.

Defense has 2 errors so far this inning.
