Kentucky next year

My thoughts on Kentucky next year:
"If" the Cats sign Bamba and Bam and Briscoe leave, they will be elite 8 good as long as they get a couple of "QUALITY" transfers or pickups.

If Briscoe returns, Bam leaves, and we get Bamba along with a couple of Quality transfers, we are
Title contenders. Same thing if we lose Briscoe and keep Bam.

If we add Knox to the mix with any above scenario, we are the favorite to win the title.

Worst case: We lose Bam, Briscoe and we don't sign Bamba, but pick up a few quality transfers: lucky to get past first round.

As usual, It all hangs in the balance....

I'm confident Calipari will cobble a great team together and all of the National Media along with Vegas seems to think so as well.

The one thing about being a UK fan is that "every year is a new adventure". Duke is the only other team that has a renaissance every April. Does Bam stay? Does Gabriel stay? Does Briscoe stay? Does Hump stay? Do we get Bamba? Do we get the grad transfer from Pitt? Do we get Mark Smith? Do we get Jemarl Baker?

My head explodes every April

hahahahaha, its amazing how many people are making Briscoe out to be some sort of savior. He does not make any team a title contender. He actually adds very very little.

You know very little about basketball. He adds experience and stability. Cal thinks very highly of him and that's what is important. He wouldn't be making the money he is, or have the success he's had if he had your narrow view of players' value.

People want Cal to recruit more 3-4 year players, then say they don't add enough abd should leave. Lol WHAT?!

Briscoe is the leader if he comes back.

He's a PG who has been asked to play off-ball since arriving. He's been chaotic at times, but you wouldn't love a Junior starting at PG?

If you think he's chaos wait until you see a group without one and done talent vs experienced teams.

Dude he is a UConn fan

This is far and away Briscoe's team if he returns!!!
Briscoe and Bam or Bamba = top 5 title contender........
Briscoe alone = top 10
Bam or Bamba (but no Briscoe) = top 15 team, maybe top 10 if we add a decent 4th guard (grad transfer or FR)

Briscoe provides experience and leadership, 2 things this team will REALLY be MISSING!!!! He is also an extra ballhandler, a good defender, and a good driver. All of that on a team that is short on guards would be a HUGE addition.

I think Knox is a long shot. You can't point at UNC and say "they will go on probation" because everyone now knows the NCAA are pansies when it comes to UNC and won't do anything. He can start for the defending NC, or he can go up the road and be JasonTatum 2.0.

But to say no Briscoe or Bam or Bamba = lucky to win first round game is a bit of a stretch. We would still be a top 20 team, 4-5 seed. You should win that game. The 2nd round game though would be tough.

Getting Briscoe back and signing Bamba is the Key for next year.

That should be enough to make us title favorite.

Still a work in progress and will be very young.I doubt that either Bam or Briscoe return,we need one or two more guards and Bamba.I think Cal knows we need more than just Bamba,he is trying to find a couple of players in the same way he took Mulder two years ago.

He will sign somebody from somewhere as sure as he will say "be the best version of yourself" or "Kentucky is not for everyone" at least 10 times during preseason next year.

Briscoe has a chance to be first team All-SEC next year.

Didn't this season teach people how silly it is to make predictions about how a season might end? How many times on here did someone say our "ceiling" was the Sweet 16?

one, the way Cal teams typically improve, going from "wow, if we play like this we won't get past the first weekend" at times in a season to finally "man, can you believe how mentally and physically tough we are? No one wants to play this team!" And two, it all depends on the draw. We land in any of the other 3 regions, we make the final four this year. Between those 2 things, end of year predictions are a fool's game. Best you can do is generalize - "we'll be a top 5/10/25 team."

If he decided to transfer and chose UCONN, you would be jerking off about it. GTFO

Briscoe has played behind Ullis and Fox and has never truly had the opportunity to run a team. I'll take my chances with him over a decent freshman.

If he decided to transfer, I would be extremely happy, but for the exact opposite reason you think.

I wish there was a "DON'T LIKE" button.

Even with the OP's "worst case" scenario I'm excited about the team and don't see a "first round" ceiling in the least.

Green / Shai
Diallo
Vanderbilt
Washington
Richards / Hump / SKJ

Add a "few quality transfer" and we can be entertaining with a chance at E8.. with some obvious holes.

But Briscoe isn't gone yet.
Bam isn't gone yet.
Gabriel isn't gone yet.
Bamba hasn't chosen a different school yet.
Knox hasn't chosen a different school yet.

Is this a joke, or are you really that ignorant about basketball?

I actually know quite a bit about basketball. The news today is great! It's addition by subtraction. Maybe we can find a true team leader next season.
