Kentucky in the mix for Greek 7' player

So we have a commitment from a New Zealander, and are targeting Aussie and Greek 7-footers. Cal's recruiting never fails to amaze.

I know there is only so much footage available, but that doesn't really show a lot outside of coordination and agility, which while important, would be much more telling if it were against competition that had some semblance of height.

He's everywhere, he's everywhere...a global anamoly...

This is the 1st I have heard or seen anything on him. Maybe someone else can find something on him.

If we could just land an Egyptian.

Watching Papagiannis and Nickens drain jump shot after jump shot, it is easy to see why basketball observers are so excited about this season's Quakers team

There's a Papageorgio, Vegas Vacation joke in here somewhere...

Seriously though, tall kid, good hands, nice touch in the videos I googled but needs to hit the buffet and weights big time before he gets to College to handle the physical play inside.

Interesting to see if we get him or not and what type of player he becomes in College playing against other bigs.

Said he played 23 minutes on a pro team.

How would that impact his amateur status?

@AdamZagoriascrew Kentucky. Enough already. This is no good for college ball. Losing interest in the game.[/URL]

LOL there are like 50 videos and a ton have under armour tournament as the name . Which video ?
Middle of the 7th line. His name is under the video so it isn't too hard to locate. BTW, all the videos are from the under armour tournament. Just look for the kid's name under the video.

I have complete and total trust in Cal and his recruiting though, no doubt about that... If we are interested then that is good enough for me...

If you go to line 14 and click on the 3rd video, you can see highlights of a game he is playing in and not just player highlights.

Watched the video but it was hard to gauge his athleticism versus the competition. Dude is so much bigger than everyone on the court.
All I can do is fall back on the default UK recruiting history under Cal. There is a reason he is paid the big dollars and not me. As someone who had the displeasure of listening to Ralph Hacker do play by play on the radio, I can only cringe if PapaGionnis had played at UK during Ralph's long tenure with UK.

I saw that in the linked column. After what happened to Kanter, I have a tough time believing the NCAA would allow this guy to play for us.

Well, if that's the case, the kid will just have to go to Maryland, or West Virginia, or Washington, or... y'know... anywhere but UK.

It's awesome for coach cal to go from best recruiter in the USA to best recruiter world wide.

I think he once said he would like to have a 7' PG. Best to pull the best talent from all around the world.

THere's some freak talent out there, It would be very cool for Coach Cal to improve recruiting by targeting worldwide. UK is one of only few college that can pull that off.

that is a great comment Saul . Stuff like that makes me love being a UK fan . If everyone hates ya that means you are doing something right..

Not true. He will get a minor penalty. Will have to sit 10 games plus 1 game for each pro-minute played. So he will be eligible for the SEC tourney.

Panathinaikos is one of the best and most successful basketball clubs in Europe, he must be pretty decent if they signed him. He doesnt look spectacular in the videos but if he is good enough for Panathinaikos and good enough for Cal he's good enough for me.

If we do sign him and if he did play 20 minutes professionally, expect the 2012 title to be stripped. Maybe even awarded to UNC.

The '16 class is weak in bigs, hence Wynyard and this kid. As it is Azibuike is the big I want, 6'10 260lb athletic freak.

If Maker reclassifies. If he doesn't, he is the big I want for 16.

As UK fans I'd say that's a pretty darn good question. One would think 23 mins wouldn't matter, but we know it could.
If there's anything to it I'd just as soon not go there. We know it'd be just like the NCAA to continue to ignore UNC, but come down on us for just about anything.

Pretty funny comment by the Zags fan. No doubt Cal's success is PO some people. That's why we get these people saying he has to be cheating.

Two or three bigs is okay....
