Since some are crying about how we have low expectations and we're not moving up...here's the proof...the only SEC programs that have won 9+ games in a regular season from 2016-present...
-9+ win seasons: Alabama(6), Georgia(5), LSU(3), Florida(3), Auburn(2), Texas A&M(1), KENTUCKY(1)
-These programs have not had a 9 win season...Tennessee, Ole Miss, Miss State, USCjr., Missouri, Arkansas, & Vanderbilt (Ole Miss needs one more win to get 9 this season)
-We're on our way to a 2nd 9 win season when half of the SEC hasn't even had 1....
Overall records in the SEC since 2016: (Did the best I could to get all the games in)
1. Alabama: 74-6, 94% (44-4, 92%)
2. Georgia: 62-14, 82% (40-9, 82%)
3. LSU: 51-22, 70% (31-18, 63%)
4. Texas A&M: 48-24 67% (29-19, 60%)
5. Florida: 47-25 65% (30-19, 61%)
6. Auburn: 47-27 64% (29-19, 60%)
7. Kentucky: 44-29 60% (25-25, 50%)
8. Miss State: 39-34 53% (21-28, 43%)
9. Missouri: 35-34 51% (20-28, 42%)
10. Ole Miss: 33-35 49% (16-31, 34%)
11. Tennessee: 34-37 48%, (17-32 35%)
12. USCjr.: 33-38 46%, (19-30, 39%)
13. Vandy: 22-47 32%, (8-39, 17%)
14. Arkansas: 18-41 31%, 10-38, 21%)
If we finish 9-3...win 10 games again....I mean other than competing for a playoff berth...what more could we ask for as far as taking the next step. We're truly an upper-half SEC program as of now. We develop players into NFL prospects. Our recruiting is getting better every single year.
I mean it's disappointing...but expectation have to be relative to who you're competing with and who is around you....those 6 program ahead of us...Bama, Georgia, Auburn, Florida, LSU, and A&M are always in the top 10 in recruiting...they're traditional powers in football crazy areas....and even at that...only Bama, LSU, and UGA have made the playoffs. Half of the SEC is under .500% in SEC play over that time....we're in the half that isn't below .500%.
This is a hard conference. Even a program like UT or Ole Miss who have struggled...they still are filled with elite NFL talent...
In 2017...Ole Miss went 6-6 and narrowly beat us...they still had DK Metcalf, AJ Brown, and Van Jefferson at wideouts...that's a 6-6 SEC team folks.
Disappointed with these results? Well it's on you...your choice to have Bama, LSU, UGA, Florida, etc. expectations....we aren't them...but we aren't near Vandy anymore either. We're a better program and continuing to get better!
