People seem to be split about whether giving up championship and Final Four banners matter tha most, or if it would hurt more to be banned from future tournaments.

To me, its an easy answer. No way I want the hard-won historic achievements of the program taken away. But not everyone agrees.

While I really want UL to take down the banner, and I do think it will come down, we all will still know who won the championship. It's like vacating wins. Sure, they are gone from the record books, but everyone knows who won the games.

Even under a hypothetical why would you put UK in the crosshairs? Let's focus on the dirty bird cheaters that paid prostitutes to have sex with recruits.

Keep the banners. Here is why:

Yes, people over the next 10-20 years may say "we know how they won those championships, they were dirty and its all tainted." But unless its officially in the books as the title being vacated it'll never be viewed that way historically. The passing of decades erases those memories to everyone that isn't a rival fan and instead are replaced with nostalgia.

Let me ask you this; How many championships does UCLA have? Sam Gilbert is common knowledge but the record books show 11.

Wow...

I don't think posing a hypothetical question puts UK in any cross hairs. It's clearly a question designed to get at what is more important to people: The glory of past achievements or the anticipation of coming seasons. It's worth exploring on a day that many Louisville fans are rationalizing things by saying losing a championship banner won't matter because they'll still remember winning the games. Really? I certainly wouldn't feel that way.
In that case, I agree with you somewhat.

As a fan, losing a championship hurts your pride. Or at least it should. My L1C4 cousin said months ago she didn't' care about the scandal and if helped them win the title, then she was glad it happened.
