Truth is most of our players have underperformed this year. But these guys can make a good run at it if they gain some confidence and improve.

This is definitely looking like a bridge year. All of these guys, with the exception of Murray, need another year of experience.
I would agree with Shutzhund that on occasion there are misses on "Cant Miss" prospects. Truth is back in the 60's 70's even through the 90's you would look at teams and think, just one more year for this bunch and we are talking about a great team. Good example would be our 74-75 team. That team had a Mr. Basketball from about 9 different states and they didnt jell for 3 years.. Bring in Roby, Lee, Givens in 74 as frosh and even then they played up into early 75 to begin to click. When they did, they were as tough as nails. Looking at this team, Skal is a great example of a kid that needs another year and probably 2 more and he will be just what we thought he would be. It happens. Regardless, this is a golden time for UK basketball guys. Enjoy it.

I think you are correct. There may need to be some go off of scholarship that are financially able to do so and/or others make the jump/transfer. Cal will figure it out but something's gotta give with the talent we have coming in and the lack there of with the present group.

Yea Im kinda new to being a UK fan. Been here since the 1950's. And believe me I understand that reasoning you have as I remember all the National Championship banners we were hanging in December. Seems like April is the new target, but if you think that December is where its all at, so be it,,,,,,,,

Plus Brisco. Having 3 defenders clogging the paint because their guys can't score is killing our offense.
Having one guy who can't shoot in briscoe is fine, I mean MKG couldn't shoot and we still won the title... but you better make sure that at least 3 guys can....... right now its only 2 .. Murray and Ulis and Ulis is really really struggling the last few weeks

I hate the word "problems". Sounds like a disease has infected us. We lost 2 games.
I'm not jumping off the ledge. While I've been plenty frustrated with our play its not like we're in a danger zone, yet. My biggest issue is our energy. There are two instances I recall we played with great energy, the duke game and the 2nd half of ASU. Other than that we've kind of been on coast mode. Our individual talent has bailed us out of a few games, but now the competition increases and there is much more scouting on our freshman.
I still think Cal is going have to get creative. This is not a traditional team. We got a lot of unique skill sets, it's just finding a way to capitalize on everything. We have certain limitations that are not magically going be cured in two months. We just got to play around those and push our strengths.

We might as well check out until late Feb. Which is when Cal will finally make real adjustments.
This is why we have some of the dumbest, shittiest fans in all of sports. If we ain't shooting to go 40/0 and dominant out if the gate then fans come on here and shit al over cal and the players.
I got a an idea. How about we just watch, cheer them on and enjoy the ride. Sure we don't know how much they will improve between now and March, and there is some disappointment so far but shit man we are 9-2. That is with all the things everyone is bitching about.

The biggest correctives for over-anxious fans would be to not over-praise our guys and to not be dismissive of other players. There simply isn't the huge gap in talent that fans imagine is there. Coaching. Luck. Indigestion. A sinus headache. Breaking up. A missed period. Any of these can level the playing floor. And anyway: boasting is vain and dissing is poor sportsmanship. And trite as it might be: it's all just a game. Consequences end with the buzzer.
I would not mind seeing some of these guys come back.
Lee is the only one I could really see coming back. He just strikes me as a kid that might stick around because he enjoys college life.
Labissiere, Briscoe, and Ulis might need to stay, but I think they plan on leaving regardless.
I think if one of Ulis and Briscoe return on the perimeter and one of Lee and Labissiere return inside, we would have an exceptional team, likely the top contender.

Both games Ky lost OS and UCLA played against KY team like they was final 4 team, everything they threw up was going in and most of the time they had a hand in there face, what killed Ky in both games was put backs and sometimes at the free throw line of course Ky could not hit anything.

Yeah, we're 9-2 but maybe 7 of those wins most everyone could have gotten done So maybe we're 2-2 and that's the reason for concern. Two schools of thot being bandies about ,, one is based on past performance. The other is based on past performance not ensuring future results. I don't console myself with the past since it really has no relation to his year's team. Many see problems that may not have solutions based simply on the passage of time.
