Not sure I'll provide a ton of updates... busy day, but here is what is going on so far.

Matt Reida back in the lineup hitting 6th. Connor Heady playing second and Storm Wilson manning left field. (Not sure I agree with any of those decisions, but I'm just a recliner coach). Would like to see Tom back in there unless he is injured.

So far, in the top of the first, Kuhn, Reed, and Thomas have walked after Barrett and Cousino flew out to center and then grounded out to short. Reida then ended the inning swinging at strikes.

Spencer Turnball is a pretty solid pitcher so having him start the game with 3 walks and throwing a lot of pitches is a good sign. Still, would have been much better to get some runs on that huge opportunity in the first.

0-0 going to the bottom of the first.

Reed pitching pretty well. Got two strikeouts to start the inning. Gave up a walk and then got a ground out to third to end the inning.

Bernal, Wilson, and Heady coming to the plate in the top of the 2nd.

0-0

Bernal starts the inning striking out swinging. Wilson battled to a full count before lining out to center. Heady got behind in the count 0-2 before flying out to right to end the inning.

0-0 going to the bottom of the second.

Wass for Alabama started the inning off drawing a 3-2 count before doubling to right center. Smith followed him up and advanced him to third with a ground out to first base. Reed then battled and got a strikeout for out number two. Unfortunately, Alabama took advantage of the early double. Cashing in on a single by Haynie to right field. Not sure how the inning ended, but UK got the last out with no more damage done.

1-0 Alabama

Barrett started the 3rd off right with a single up the middle. Cousino grounded into a fielder's choice, 3 to 6. Kuhn grounded into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning.

1-0 Alabama going to the bottom of the third.

Reed starts the bottom half of the third off with a strikeout of the nine hole hitter, although he had to battle to do it. He followed that up with another strikeout, this one much easier. Reed followed that up with a walk and then got a fly out to center to end the inning.

1-0 Alabama

Reed started the inning off with a fly out to right field. Thomas worked a 3-2 count and drew a walk. Reida then followed that up with a double play to end the inning.

1-0 Alabama going to the bottom of the 4th.

Reed facing the meat of the lineup this inning and gets a popup to start. He goes 0-2 against Wass and gets him to ground out to first. Three up three down as Smith flies out to center. Reed doing a pretty solid job other than the leadoff double that led to the one run. Now the UK bats need to wake up this week.

1-0 Alabama going to the 5th. Line looks like this:

UK: 0-1-0
UA: 1-2-0

Bernal started the inning off with a ground out to second, Wilson followed it up with a ground out to short, and Heady went down swinging.

1-0 Alabama still up.

By the way... the gametracker is terrible this year.

Houghton starts the inning off with a double down the left field line. Reed followed that up with two strikeouts and a line out to the pitcher.

1-0 Alabama going to the 6th.

Barrett is apparently the only bat that has any luck today as he gets a single to second and then advances to second on a wild pitch. Cousino advanced him to third with a single up the middle. Kuhn walked to load up the bases. AJ Reed lined into a triple play... holy shit.

1-0 Alabama

Had to leave the house, but in the 8th UK got a raw deal. Wilson reached first, Heady squared to bunt and put down a good one. He was in the baseline when he was hit in the back of the head. Umpires cashed Heady out and brought Wilson back from second to first. Inning ended with UK making no noise. In the bottom half Alabama got an insurance run off a homer.

Bama still in the eighth. Now up 3-0. Um making their second pitching change of the inning. UK got not bad luck on the third run. Thought we got a fly out to center but umpires called a balk on Snyder and the runner got an extra base abs the hitter a second chance.

I believe UK is now down one game in this series. Not the start we wanted. Pitching was outstanding but the bats and luck were both lacking. Hope that changes tomorrow when we have a double header.

Thanks Comeback for the updates, on a mini vacation and will try to keep up. Hope Chandler Shepherd can stem the Tide in the 1st game today setting up the rubber game.
