Kentucky a picture-perfect situation for newcomer Mulder

Thanks for the link, glad to see the young man getting to live his dream. Hope he has a lot of fun this year. Life goes by way to fast. We just need to take each day and enjoy it.

I don't think that the contributions that Mulder & Mattews my make to this team can be overstated.

I agree. They seem to be pretty complimentary of each other. They should give the team two different, yet important, options with Mulder bringing offense and Matthews bringing defense off the bench.

46% from 3 point range is absurd. Can't wait to see this kid play.

Start:

G Ulis
G Briscoe
G Murray
F Poythress
F Labissiere
6th Lee- first off the bench

Then depending on the situation, bring in off the bench:

G Mulder- when we need an offensive boost or an extra shooter to stretch the defense.
G Matthews- when we need a defensive boost or a really good wing scorer is giving us fits and we need a defensive stopper to try to shut them down.
F Humphries- when we need more size, muscle inside.
G Hawkins- when we need toughness and experience or need a small, quick guard shut down.

anyone else getting just a little bit giddy over the potential of the coming season?

As I have said in a couple of other threads,I think (partly because of last year)people are selling this team a little short.College basketball at this level is a guard driven game (and we have plenty of drivers)The new shot clock will play into our hands,we have enough bigs to hold our own around the rim.

This bunch could be scary good,a healthy Poy and a Marcus Lee that can stay out of foul trouble spell problems for everyone who shows up in a different color uniform.:)

I like that this team will be more guard oriented. Size is good but look at the teams that are winning titles, those teams focus more on guard play. Duke, Uconn etc… those teams spread the floor and let their guards dominate. Hopefully it works for us this season.

Exactly.

2010- Duke- Scheyer/Smith.
2011- UConn- Walker/Napier/Lamb.
2013- UofL- Siva/Smith.
2014- UConn- Napier/Boatright.
2015- Duke- Jones/Cook.

Only one team really had a stud big man (Okafor in '15).

Yeah the 2012 team didn't have a stud bigman... #reallybro?

I think he wasn't referring to the 2012 team in his analysis. He was merely making a point that more times than not, a dominant big man isn't necessary.

Never mentioned 2012... #canyoureadbro? LOL!

But seriously, I should have been more clear. 2012 was an exception to the rule. Five of the last six champs were guard/perimeter oriented teams, like someone else mentioned. College ball is a guard's game. Unless you have a once in a lifetime superstar big man like AD, then the guards will dominate.

Of course, our guards/wings weren't too shabby in 2012, either.

Yeah, 2012 Uk and 2015 Duke are the only two that really had good big men and UK had several of them in 2012 and Duke had one really good one in 2015. Of course, Teague and Lamb were two pretty damn good guards in their own right.
