He's gotten some reps, not many. He is a LB or DE in three different heavy packages that haven't been used a lot to this point.
You probably have better insight than most. He's gotten some reps, not many. He is a LB or DE in three different heavy packages that haven't been used a lot to this point.
I suspect the hybrid LB/DE role for the remainder of the season and going into spring competition next year. You probably have better insight than most.
Do you know if the coaches plan to keep him in a hybrid LB/DE role or prepare him as a full-time DE?
It was a tough situation for the coaches, his development during camp, injuries and suspension played a large role in making the decision to not RS him. Fortunately for him, he handled his business in the spring and summer academic terms. He was a few credits away from being a second year student in his major of biosystems engineering (the required undergrad for biomed engineering) before the season started. He's now considering a change in majors that would put him on the path to have a professional career similar to Korem's. As I explained to him, that is what college is all about, finding out what you have a passion for and making the contacts to make it a reality.Ridiculous that he wasn't redshirted.
You are right about that, nothing can help him become the player he wants to be for UK better than reps and experience. Patience and progress are the virtues, he has 3+ years now to do his part to continue elevation of the program.Hope he gets reps and gains as much experience as possible. KD has a bright future ahead of him!!
Sounds like an awesome academic plan. Best of luck to him. Agree that he seems to be approaching college, and college athletics, the right way.It was a tough situation for the coaches, his development during camp, injuries and suspension played a large role in making the decision to not RS him. If he does that, he's even further ahead academically and the RS is even less significant. CMS and Eliot are doing everything they can to help him obtain a 4 year degree and 1 year master's degree in a 5 year period, that's really what the RS was for, not to allow him to continue to develop physically and mentally, they all believe he can contribute now while continuing to improve.
