He's an Indiana kid and Brohm is doing well there so you can kick about a kid staying close to home.

True BUT...they've come into KY and got two DL so I guess those guys didn't want to stay home. Big failure in KY DL recruiting, can it be salvaged? Fortunately UK's DL is pretty young and deep, maybe that's why these guys hauled but UK can't continue this, gotta step it up.

All indications point to us backing off both of the KY kids that ended up at Purdue to focus on Gilbert. I know a lot of people like to focus on NIL, but it seems that we have mismanaged a couple high profile recruitments this cycle.

It's recruiting...
Very true. I had, and still have, great hope for Anwar Stewart but he's going to have to step up the recruiting aspect of his job. As I said, UK's young, talented and deep in the DL but DLs are hard to find, everybody needs them and you have to fight to sustain. Maybe there's a late bloomer out there somewhere, otherwise UK'll have to hit the portal or JUCOs.

I agree, this was a gamble that didn't work.

They wanted Gilbert and didn't want the other two. Not really a gamble even if they hadn't gotten close on Gilbert they still didn't want the others. Length and injuries are the reasons they backed off the two in state guys. Why bring those guys in if they don't feel they can get it done. I actually like Clements but there is a huge reason why they do the evaluations instead of me. 😂

If these new assistants can't beat Purdue for a top recruit how are they ever gonna beat Florida or Tennessee or Georgia for some

Don't give me home state stuff, the reality is Kentucky always has to build a team from outside our borders. If we want to win, that is.

Has anybody signed yet?... ain't over till it's over.

It doesn't matter anymore if they signed or not. UT is bringing in transfer who is suspended at USC for whipping his GF who signed with USC, appealed and had it voided and then signed with Texas and used his free transfer to go back to USC. Promptly slapped his GF around, suspended indefinitely enter the portal and the Vols knew he was meant to be a vol. Transferred to TN, but already used his free one, of course vols appealed and was granted eligibility. Vols will come and respond to this that charges were dropped, people get scared when they are treated. Hopefully he doesn't feel the need to slap a few vol coeds around.

They aren’t. UT looking like they’ll have a top 12 class. UF looking like they’ll have a top 10 one. UGA is obviously a few levels above everyone. We’ve closed the talent gap a lot with UT/UF under Stoops but it’s looking like it’s about to start widening again. Would love to be wrong but right now we’re fifth in the division for recruiting behind even USC jr. Many here say we’ll get some studs late in the cycle but who’s to say UT/UF/USC won’t?

Napier was a known recruiter at Bama, I was hoping he would come with him if only for a couple years, I knew his goals. UT will take any body regardless of character, always would. Now they are buying players. We are hitting with defensive recruits but not doing as well on offense. Maybe get a flip or 2 when we pass for 3500+ but not holding my breath

Issues like this are what make me throw up in my mouth when our admin suspends an all SEC player who has given his all to the team for multiple games for an infraction that has been handled in court and is in the past.

This dude had felony charges and because Vols need him, he is eligible immediately. UT FB is the scum of the earth.....still.

After another 10 win season, it looks like somebody has really dropped the ball. Recruiting this year is an unmitigated disaster.
We're currently ranked in the 30's hardly a disaster.
You realize that Purdue fans would have been just as disappointed if they lost an instate kid to UK.
It not like Purdue has sucked during UK's recent success.

Just tonight Stoops talked like the 2 deep on the OL is pretty much the same in talent level. Didn't even mention the third unit guys that doesn't look bad to me. So, got a little time to catch up on the DL because they will all be back next year.

I think they should all be back. How many have we seen that left that shouldn't have though? They did have Rogers on some boards so we never know. Many get tore up about ULs class but UF and SC are killing it on the DL while UK has struggled. They already had as much or more talent there beforehand. So far though we have had better coaching and a better culture

It's been stated here that we aren't targeting a lot of DL this cycle because of our youth in the position group, and that Gilbert was about it for what we sought. So he heads to Purdue... not the end of the world. We backfill with transfer/JC in a year or two and carry on

The class doesn't pop on paper right now, but it doesn't stink either. I'll bet we finish about 20, and I totally trust this staff to bring in kids that will work. A lot of highly ranked classes at schools like UT and USe are built on too many kids that pop at combines and on prep film, but lack the commitment to the game to succeed when surrounded by similar talents on the field, or can't be kept in a program because of off the field concerns... except at UT, of course.
