Self is a pretty good coach and has had success anywhere he has been.....but trying to compare him to Cal is like comparing apples to nectarines. We have been spoiled but that OK I like it.....who can you really compare to Cal on getting players to NBA and then those players making great contributions.

It would be interesting to learn how many players Self puts in the NBA. We all know about guys like Wiggins, but after thinking about it some, it's not like it's easy to list the NBA players that played for Self. The dude isn't bad at coaching, but I don't think the guy is known for making NBA players while coaching at KU. When a fan thinks Bill Self, most think choke job first. I don't know if it's fair, but it's out there for all the upsets to smaller schools in the NCAAs. The next thing a fan would think about Self is transfer mad man. I don't know why, but if a decent player makes it known he's on the market, you can bet your last dollar KU and Self are in the running, if not most likely landing spot. The guy will probably become better with KU players in the NBA, but at this moment, it would be silly to act like it's known by everyone that Self cares about putting you in the NBA first and his goals last. If that were true, some of the talented freshman he has coached while at KU would have been on the court a lot sooner than Self wanted.

I also like how he misleadingly writes the number of future NBA players on each team without clarifying that many if not most of them carry over from year to year. So, the same players are listed multiple times.

Also, if they're that good, why are they still there year after year? For the glory of good ol' state u? No.

exactly. its a disingenuous list. they have graham on there for 3 years....kid is still in college and wont get drafted.

Gotta have your minions put this out this to cover for you when you've only had one Final Four in a decade.

Of course, there's no "Self is underachieving with all these NBA players" articles from Goodman and the media. Wonder why.

Other than Wiggins, in the past 5 years, how many players has Self put in the NBA? I'm having a hard time coming up with anyone.

I didn't click but I am near certain the length of the article is akin to the length of an afam final term paper.

OK, I clicked. The article praises Self for how many is on his ROSTER each season who went on to play one minute in the League. At least 2 on roster each year.

Lost in the translation: most players are listed for 3 or 4 seasons. Like Roy and K, Self has a knack for under-developing talent. They sign as a top 20, but leave in the 2nd round draft or worse.

Embiid, Oubre, Mason, Robinson, McLemore. Off the top of my head.

Those twins and Jackson. Also there were two big goofy white guys. Withey and the one with the buzz cut that played the year Boogie and Wall played.

Jackson! Not sure how I forgot him. I was thinking the Morris twins were older, but maybe not. He said 5 years. And I blanked on Withey.

The other white dude a Collison?

Anyway, Kansas is harmless. Their fans are pests, but it's precious. They have pretty good teams with pretty good players, but tend to flame out.

I think the twins were 2011 draft picks. I didn't know there was a 5-year window.

I bought a book of matches while passing through Kansass yesterday. It had them all listed on the inside of the cover. Even when it was full of matches, you could still read the whole list.

Trivia question: How often does Self refurbish his rug? Annually, every three years? Not sure but there may be a correlation.....could be...
