UK ( 8-5 ) takes on Cincinnati ( 4-6 ) today @ 4:00pm at Marge Schott stadium in Cincy.
UK will likely send out Zack Thompson freshman lefty against UC. He has pitched very well in his 2 previous starts, and he will look to get above .500 on the season.
This will be Cincinnati's 2nd home game this season, the 1st resulted in a 6-1 win over Indiana.

Well UK is hitless through 2 while Thompson struggles a bit to get his fastball in the strikezone.

Thompson was in a jam after giving up a leadoff double and then a sac bunt put the Bearcats in business with 1 out. Thompson would not have it and got back to back strikeouts to end the threat.

Thompson shows enough potential now where he looks like a Friday night guy as early as next year, but he throws so many pitches. It's taken him 39 pitches to get through two innings.

Hjelle was apparently just a placeholder in the DH spot to make sure that a certain pitcher was going to go and so McNiell takes his place.

Heyer got a leadoff single, but two poor bunts in a row led to UK getting two outs, including the leadoff runner Heyer when McNeill attempted to bunt. Carson then gets hit. White then grounded into a FC.

Thompson raking in the strikeouts. He has 5 through three innings. It is that type of pitching that definitely makes him an excellent candidate as a Friday starter next year.

Looks like we're going to have another one of those fancy pitching duels.

7 strikeouts for Thompson now, and perhaps even more impressive is that 4 of the 7 have been caught looking! Going to the 5th.

The competition between Becker and Heyer at third base is going to continue to be freaking heated! Heyer the only Wildcat with a hit today, and both of his are doubles. I think at this point it might be good to begin switching out Cottam and Squires at catcher and have Heyer/Becker switch out at 3B and DH.

Thompson continues to sit them down... another K looking and we're going to the 6th.

22 Ks for Thompson thru 14.2 IP pitched this season. Impressive.

Equally as impressive is that he has only walked 4 batters in his time on the mound. A lot of young pitchers get strikeouts, but they also give up a lot of walks. Thompson is limiting walks and is mowing down hitters with strikeouts. Love it.

Meanwhile, it's only taken Cincy's starter 3 pitches to record two outs to start the 7th.

Yep... I guess when you're hitting well all the pitches look good, but we've got to be more patient and make him work and get base runners.

Cincy takes out their pitcher who has surrendered 2 hits total, and has thrown only 65 pitches in 6 and 2/3 innings. Thanks Bearcats ! Turns out to be a good move as Heyer strikes out !

Pop struggling a bit and has given up a run with the help of a throwing error. 1-0 going to the 8th.

Becker with a leadoff double!!! Come on boys... wake these bats up!

Whew... we try to sacrifice with Heady and they throw to third and Becker barely gets in under the tag. No outs. Runners on corners. Carson then pops out in foul territory. White deep enough to allow Becker to tag. 1-1 game!!

Pop leaving the game after walking the leadoff man and then working a full count on the next hitter.

Don't like the idea to take down Heyer for Wilson in the top of the 9th.

Interesting... we intentionally walk the winning run into scoring position.
