I'm 2 hours into my work day and it's already started.

- Refs were terrible
- Playing at Rupp is worth 15 points.
- UK supposedly played out of their mind and only won by 2.
- Refs were terrible
- UL would win by double digits on neutral court
- If Mathiang plays UL wins easily
- UL wins easily if we meet again in March
- Refs were terrible

I'm sure I'm missing some, but this is the crap that UL coworkers have been spewing so far. They fail to mention Briscoe being out, Murray (arguably our best player) having the worst game of his UK career so far, and UK completely shutting down after getting up 16 which let them back in the game.

I get so sick of hearing the UL fan's nonsense year after year about how they coulda, woulda, shoulda beat us. Just shut up and do it. You've had 9 chances and only pulled it off once. Three of those games have been at the YUM and two have been on a neutral court. What's the excuse for 4 of those 5 games?

Put up or shut up.

All they are doing is laying the framework to build up the rhetoric for our next game. In due time we will hear that Snider and Mitchell>>>>>Fox and Monk. They will get to host the game next year. They will lose and some goofy UL fan will put together a scrapbook of photos of missed calls and accuse us once again of paying off the refs. This tune is getting tiresome.

It always "the refs fault" with those stencil-bearded douchenozzles. Loser's mentality on display.

"Tell them we didn't have Briscoe either.".....and a struggling Skal and Murray.... and STILL won.

Dang, a timely placed hard step onto their instep and a loud OH, I'm so sorry tends to shut them up....;)

Still ticked at the non-walk call at the end....very blatant...and that ref was looking right at it!

I don't respond at all. I just hold up eight fingers, then I hold up 1. If they pretend not to get it, I hold up the eight fingers again and say, "Cal." Then the 1 and say, "Rick."

Assuming they can count again?

What also gets me is that coming into this game UL fans were legitimately discussing whether or not they were the best team in the country. Meanwhile, UK fans understand that we aren't great this year but hope that we will grow over the season and be a contender in March.

Now that the rivalry game is over, I don't think the UK fan perspective has changed. We aren't where we need to be but we have the potential to get there. On the UL side, despite losing the only two games they have played against real opponents, they still think they are the cream of the crop this year because of their moral victories against MSU and UK... Just delusional. Hate to break it to you guys, but you haven't won a game against a team in the top 130. They desperately need a good in-conference season or their tourney resume will leave them with a tough first-rounder.

How many points was it worth to us playing in the yum center last year?

Rumor has it CC and BCG are on the replacement short-list...

... All that said, I will also mention that I do like UL's team from a player standpoint this season. If you set the hostility of the rivalry and fans aside, their players seem like really good kids who play hard. Their 5th year guys both seem like stand-up young men, as do some of the other players on their roster. There's no one on that team that I have any sort of dislike for really, aside from Ricky P.

Don't confuse that for thinking I will cheer for them. I hope they lose every game, but I do respect their players and their attitude toward the game. I think the same can be said for UK this season as well. Both teams seem pretty likeable from a player's standpoint to me, which certainly hasn't always been the case in recent years.

It was a poorly officiated game...for both teams. There were several times that the refs made calls when they should've just let them play on.

Just flip them the bird... Ricky style

Katina recruits the best young men

I love the "you can't win at Rupp" argument. Hell, they can't win anywhere.

I agree OP. UK won the game. It's that simple.

The venue changes home and home and we can't control that. Injuries happen, and both teams have injuries. Refs miss calls. All these things are part of the game. Deal with it, Cardinal fans. :D

Louisville is just pissed that they weren't able to imitate UK's Rick, at UL. The older ones know he didn't reach those heights. With their arena, is says a lot about the shadow casted over their program by big brother.

That's what eats them the most. It's not as simple as 1 title.

Both teams missing a key starter. Some blown calls both ways. Wasn't the highest level of play by either team, but exciting game. But some ugly plays and slow stretches by both teams. Came down to a final couple plays, like most predicted.

UL is a good team, and might even be a great team by March. I will still withhold judgement until they play even some middle of the pack ACC teams. I do agree with a previous poster, this does seem to be one of Pitino's better teams in terms of player likability. Pitino is an excellent coach with off the court issues; mostly personal. It's sad really.

UK.. we still have a lot of work to do, to be really competitive by March. We have the talent, but lets see how it all comes together.

34-15--- Not even a particularly close rivalry historically speaking. About on par with our rivalry with Tennessee (We win about 70% of the time)

OP, why worry about them? Outside their thin slice of geographical presence, no one in the world even knows they exist.

I can assure you this is the case. I don't live in Kentucky. No one outside the state acknowledges them. Why should you? You have history on your side, a better coach, an exponentially better program, an infinitely more promising future, and zero scandals to concern yourself.

Plus, you're 8-1 against them with Cal at the helm? They're not even worth a rebuttal, and if you think I don't know what it's like because I don't live in Kentucky, I can assure you I do. I teach 5th through 7th graders who pounce every time UK loses a game. I have no doubts the illogical output is comparable.

Think about this.....Little Brothel could win the next 18 years in a row and still be behind us in the series....heck, their fans are ready to drop the series......a whole fan base of sore losers! They ARE truly Kentucky's Play Toy!!

The fact is when we play our best we're at least 16 points better than them and that's without Briscoe and Skal being a non-factor. UL is a one player team. Without Lee they would be complete garbage. I was not impressed with them at all other than Lee. The only time they were in control was when we were playing like garbage. When we played to our potential, we had a 16 point lead. Final scores don't always tell the whole story.

:) This is for the U of L job....
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Those fellas were on his short list for us. I figured Pitino would push to have them at UL. Although Pelphrey wouldn't entertain it for a moment and Ford has a better job.

Use the 1 finger salute when you emphasize the 1 with Rick.

The 5th year guys are ruining the game. Just ask the one poster on this forum.
