Hard to believe just 7-8 years ago he was at the top of the college basketball world, and now he coaching a tiny junior college. Though to be fair it is his alma mater and it seems he's much more comfortable in this kind of gig. Still this is kinda like an ex-President of the United States taking a job as a low level lobbyist for a really obscure special interest group.

Maybe being our coach was way over his head, but no matter what he can always and forever say at one time he was the coach of the finest college basketball team in the land (even though his honeymoon was over after only the second game :( ). I honestly hope this is a better fit for him and wish him the best.

It's crazy to think back to how good he was at a&m. I don't think that was entirely a product of acie law. I just think kentucky was too big for him mentally. And his players at UK did not even come close to having the kinda mental makeup it takes to deal with his coaching style, other than pat and ramel. Maybe joe. The 2nd group definitely didn't.

It had nothing to do with UK and all the pressure/hoopla..it was 1000% how BCG was an arrogant a-hole who treated EVERYONE around him like trash. He was like this before he got here, Mitch did a horrendous job vetting him, period.

Thank God for Pratt and our boosters who corrected that joke.

I thought the OP was going to show a picture of Coach Billy Clyde teaching a zumba class in Los Angeles or peddling All Beef Dogs from a cart on a corner in downtown Amarillo, TX while singing "My Way."

No, that's not really the way I roll. If I do poke fun at anyone it's one of our opponents.

This is like a ex-president being impeached.

Then taking a job of being president of a neighborhood babysitters club.

And that's why Barney is not in charge of basketball and will never be the head decision on our coaches again.

For that, it's a win.
Please let this be true. The #1 threat to the future of Kentucky Basketball (post-Calipari) is the possibility of Barney being involved in it.

Never forget this: not only did he hire Gillespie... he needed a search firm to find him. [eyeroll]

I just hope he got cleaned up; the man is an alcoholic and I'm always afraid we'll hear he crashed with under the influence and took some innocent people with him.
Beyond that, don't even think about the guy - even block out the two years he was here. The man nearly destroyed our program and if we hadn't gotten Cal.........well I shudder to think about it

Very difficult for me to really wish him well. He was horrible with the kids he had at UK, never really got it as to what it means to be UK's head coach, and brought our program to its knees in two quick years. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Having said that, he is a human being with with an illness, being with alcohol, and do hope he gets that under control and becomes a better person.

He is doing a heck of a job at Ranger. Program was awful last year, he had to put together a team on the fly and I don't think they have lost a game on the court this year. Early in the season they played with an ineligible player and forfeited a few games. Would not be surprised if Ranger wins national JUCO championship. Most of their games are not close.

I don't think we can blame it all on alcohol. Some people are just born a*sholes. Maybe being a drunk a*shole is worse, but drunk or sober he was just an a*shole. And a dangerous one at that. He had young men he was responsible for. I don't think he was ever drunk at practice or during games so you can't use that as an excuse.

I'm not so sure he wasn't, to be honest

And yes, he was a supreme a-hole. Scary.
