Just for fun, how high would UK move up in the AP with a win v #3 in Knoxville?

I know alot depends on other teams but you can usually count on a few to 4-5 from #10-#20 losing every week.

Im going to say #9-#10 if we beat them in Knoxville with them #3 and UK #19 with 2 Ls.

If we prevail we would have 3 wins over top 16 teams (at the time we played them).

Who else in the country could say that after 8 gms?

UT would fall to about 8 or 9 and UK would move to 9 or 10 and would be right back in the National Title conversation, even with 2 Ls.

With games still remaining with #1 UGA and either Bama or Ole Miss in the SECCG UK even with 2 Ls, if they run the table and finish 11-2, would more than likely get the #4 seed over at least one 1 loss team if not 2 or 3.
You would be talking about 5 wins v top 16 teams!!! At FL #12, v #16 Miss St., At #3 UT, v at least a top 5 Georgia team and a top 5 or so Bama or Ole Miss.

Have at it….

No 2 loss team has made the playoff while 4 other 0 and 1 loss teams have been available. Auburn was the closest in '17 and might have benefit from not making the CCG.

UK would need help making the CCG even beating UK and UGA. And even if you try the Bama way, you need help from outside the conference.

Essentially, you want chaos. I'm for chaos.

Not really. If we win out which I confess is a big if, UGA and UT would each have an L and we would have the tiebreaker over them. They play each other thats another L for someone. That means all UK would need is for the winner of the UGA/UT game to drop another SEC game and for South Carolina to drop one more SEC game.
Assuming UGA beats UT between the hedges I would say our best hope would be State in Starkville or Florida in Jville to upset the Dawgs. Admittedly slim chances but chances nonetheless. I would say State in Starkville.
Listen, play time is over for UGA and their cupcake schedule to this point. They get a bye this week and look:

v UF in Jville
v UT
At Miss St
At UK

Thats a brutal 4 game stretch with no breaks. By the time UGA gets to Lexington they may be a lil banged up!

Im telling you guys this thing is back in play with the big win v Miss St!

Completely hypothetical........but I think we'd end up ranked somewhere close to #12. I don't think we'd get back into the top 10 unless we beat UT, Missou, and Vandy.........then we'd be top 10 going into UGA.

..........but there is a metric ton of things that have to go our way for this to happen.

Just about but not quite.
Going to be nearly impossible. We have to win @ UT and vs UGA and they both have to lose another game in conference. Their toughest game outside of us are UT against USC and UGA against Mississippi State.

Yep. So, then only one of them would have to lose to a lesser quality team. I'd give all of this happened less than a 1% chance.
Georgia after their bye:

UF -Jville
UT
At Miss St
At UK

Thats a damn gauntlet esp when you factor in cupcake city leading up to this point for UGA and the Dawgs fat on their National Title.
This is why we still have a shot at the SEC East and the National Title.

Chances are on the 30-40 % side. Lol at 1%.

I like your enthusiasm, but you give a 30% - 40% chance of us winning out and UT and UGA both losing 2 games?

Yes. Considering they play each other and i showed you UGA’s nasty 4 game stretch.
UT aint winning in Athens.

I am almost 55 years old and it’s amazing that we can even have this conversation considering all the things I have seen happen to Kentucky football in the past. We’ve come a long way.

Before 2022 - I would have said #18. But now, we finally get recognized for being a FOOTBALL school as well as a Basketball school. So, I would say #11. Of course the visiting team has won the last 3 games between these two - lol!

Go Big Blue!

#10. And if they won until they play Georgia they probably about #7.

If they beat Georgia and they'd also beat Tennessee while both were ranked in the top five ...... Well then you're probably going to be ranked number #5 looking on the edge going into the Louisville game. If somehow you made the SEC championship game and won .... They couldn't keep Kentucky out. No way.

But you're going to need Tennessee too lose twice. And Georgia to lose twice.

Kentucky can take care of one each. But getting Georgia beat a second time AND Tennessee beat a second time is on the other teams..

Kentucky can help itself but it's going to need Georgia and Tennessee to slip up after playing each other.

Now Tennessee had an overtime game against Pittsburgh. So they can lose.
Georgia hasn't played up to Georgia potential in a couple games. So they can lose.

Neither are super duper absolute made of steel can't be beat. It's possible for Kentucky but we have to win out #1.

To me the best thing that could happen with this team ...if we're not going to win the SEC east.... is we get to play Michigan or Ohio State.
If you're going to have a bowl game it's time to play one of those 2.

So I'm hoping we win out and Ohio State or Michigan loses one time. And we play finally finally Ohio State or michigan on even terms.
Then we beat them and take over the recruiting north 💯🤔

#1. Win sec east
2. Play sec champion game
3. College playoff

Or
Ky vs michigan or ohio state. Nothing else

They also play each other so the “both have to lose” is take care of for one of them if step 1 (we win out) happens.

The only realistic path (still slim):
—UK beats UT and UGA
—UGA beats UT
—UGA drops one of MSU/UF since neither are at home

Sorry HH but if UGA gets past UT there is no SEC Championship for UK

On the road and with the OL we have I just don’t see it. But if they did I’d say probably up to 8 would be right. Sure hope it happens as I live in Knoxville and you’d think they just won the national title. They are selling shirts commemorating a regular season win lol
Go watch Fla vs FO...not saying we will , but we can .

The whole question being asked on this thread is entirely meaningless because the first college football rankings come out 3 days after the Kentucky vs Tennessee game and they don’t give a rats ass about what the AP poll thinks. The AP poll will be rendered completely meaningless November 1.

While you are likely correct, Georgia winning against florida at home and on the road at Miss. St. are not set in stone. I mean you did struggle on the road against Mizzou. Admittedly no idea if missing key personnel that game like we were missing Levis against USCJr. Don’t think we beat Georgia at home but if we play our best it is possible, just haven’t seen our best for a full game yet so not really sure what our potential truly is.

Why are we doing this to ourselves. we have zero chance of being in playoff. not slim chance but zero. we are playing make believe to think a two loss KYwill be in the playoff. more importantly an 8 - 4 is more realistic. let us stop dreaming and face the facts. could beat UT, but not likely, Wii NOT beat GA. so to dream of a KY team with a minimum of 3 losses being in playoff is just stupid on our part.

Anyone can be beaten on any given day. We have missed a RB couple games, top WR hasn't played since Carolina, Carter has missed 2 games since Missouri chopped him. Losing Bennennt wouldn't effect UGA much, Beck has shined everytime he has played. I just think there are too many obstacles for a 2 loss team to play in SEC Championship, only Remember it happening 2 time, Carolina got embarrassed and LSU won NC.

The discussion was on UK making the SEC Championship game, not the playoff. I put our chance at less than 1% to win the East. I don’t think I’m doing anything to myseif. I’m being realistic.

Our Super Bowls are Tennessee and Georgia. It will be amazing if we can keep one of those games within two TDs, I’ll feel good about that.
