Josh Forrest on Watch List

Watchlist is another term for free press for some obscure football club trying to hype up their award to sell tickets to an end of the year dinner. It's gotten pretty ridiculous. We will have a player listed on a dozen of these.

i hope he working hard in the film room this year. he's got the physical tools but needs to make quicker and better reads.

happy for Forrest & Boom & Toth to get some preseason ink for being on watch lists

but yeah, the whole summer watch list release is beyond silly. what is the point, if a stud running back who ISNT on the list blows up in 2015 are they ineligible from receiving it?

No, think of it as pre-season rankings, minus the actual rankings. They expect those players on those lists to be the best ones in college football at doing what they're on the watch lists for. Eventually, when the list is shortened, people who weren't on the list previously will be able to be put on the list, but those who don't make the first cut will not be able to play themselves into contention for the award past that point.

I think it is a nice testament to the work he has put in. An unheralded recruit from Paducah who only started playing football as a junior in HS. Was played as a wide receiver and come here to play as one and he has moved around and played several positions and now he is learning the ILB position.
"Forrest led Kentucky with 110 tackles in 2014 and added eight tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions and one fumble forced. He ranked fourth in the Southeastern Conference in tackles as a junior and second in the league in solo tackles."

That my friends is a talented guy, may be a little slow on his reads but his numbers say he is productive. 4th in the SEC and you guys act like he is a chump or something and they hand out Chuck Bednarik preseason team to anybody and everybody.

Sing his praise instead of dogging him out.

I don't think anyone is dogging him. Let's hope he continues to put up those numbers and I'm sure we will be happy.

Well, it's not like we're giving much praise.. I'll take what I can get... There is no such thing as bad publicity...

I would like for him to play with a little more of a mean streak. IMO he is very gifted athletically but he just does not have the mean streak needed by an Inside Line Backer. Come on Josh hit with a little more malice. Have them players looking for you when they come into your area.

Harmon did that and was rewarded with sitting. Both them guys are from Paducah, both very athletic. Bet their are quite a few players around the state who can play at big time schools but never play because of where they live and never are introduced to the sport until their future is about up and it's hard to play catch up.

Stoops and Eliot have always said they are trying to get Forrest to be more physical. Saying that, I think he's done an unbelievable job transforming into a LB from receiver. I think he will be even better this season. He is very rangy.

I am not complaining about Forrest. I think he has become an amazing LB for a player that was thought of as an offensive player coming out of high school. I was not suggesting that he become a dirty player just that he hit a little more aggressively. IMO he will have a great season this year.

I hope however that some of the tackles are closer to the LOS than they were last year. You just can not let RBs have 4 to 5 yards before contact.

like i said, great for Forrest as well as the other UK guys who landed on watch lists (Boom for overall best player & Toth for best center)

just think the list thing is silly, it seems very 1980's in todays social media instant news age. like the only college football news anyone could get would be preseason magazines in the summer, with these "watch lists" detailed inside.
