I think they said "a couple of weeks," but no more details other than that.
What the illness is a private thing and I believe it would be against privacy laws for UK to report the nature of the illness without the kids permission.
The truth is the only thing the fans need to know is that he is ill and likely out for several weeks. He will report what the illness is if he wants us nosy fans to know.
Not sure why you would be upset, when a player is released rumors flow from drugs to mass murder which is being nosy and stupid. But when a player is determined to have an illness where he may be out several weeks, that is concerning to many fans just because they care.
Not sure the guy was upset. Just because a person uses the word nosy doesn't mean there's any vitriol behind it. He included himself among the nosy. Sometimes being folksy reads a little more harsh than spoken.
He might be right but was it necessary?I asked for details like the ones we receive when a player is having migraines, toe issues, ankle issues, etc. I don't think his response was warranted. The guy above him gave me what I was looking for, I liked it and that should have been the end of it. I didn't need someone to tell me I'm being nosy.
Possibly but wondering about a player's illness is not being nosy, maybe concerned.
I'm wishing him a quick recovery because I know he want's to be on the field getting better and learning to help his team win!
DaBoss asked a simple question; one that most would ask for in this situation. I saw nobody getting on UK's case for not sharing more info. There's just limited info on his illness and that is what was shared. Pretty simple.
Privacy laws restrict what can be said. Hard to tell whether this will be a Rick Pitino two weeks or an actual two weeks.
Right. There are a lot of reasons why these kinds of things might be treated sensitively. The coaches might not want teams on our September schedule to know when inactive players will be active, although that surely isn't the case here. The coaches might not want other players on our depth chart to relax, which might be a factor. The school has rules about this kind of information too. Most importantly, this illness is a personal matter for this player. If he had the flu, they would probably just say he has the flu. If he is out several weeks with an unannounced illness, it is probably significant and personal too. It is understandable for fans to be curious, and that doesn't hurt anything. But that is the least important part of it.
I apologize for being nosy guys. I went too far and should have just kept it to myself. It was clearly none of my business. I just heard this player was out for several weeks. That was really all I needed to know and I should have just let sleeping dogs lie. Again I offer my most sincere apologies to anyone I offended with this question.
