Jordan Dingle NIL $

So UT tried poaching Dingle and Willie Rodriguez? I think I remember reading about Barion Brown saying UT players were trying to recruit him during the game and instead he talked trash to them (love that). Trash program (and yes I know everyone tampers now).

Everyone tampers. No rules in this era. No punishment. No enforcement. Just win baby.

Dingle caught 11 balls for 198 yards in 2023.....more productive in 2022 as he got dinged up in 2023....but if that number is somewhat true....that is a ton of money for a decent, but not great by any stretch, TE in UK's scheme.

I have a hard time believing he was offered something in the 350K range. If that is his value, I imagine the overall NIL value of UT is somewhere between $15 - $25 million for the upcoming year. Maybe I'm naïve (wouldn't be the first time), but I just have a hard time believing that number.

Jason Belzer runs a company that manages the collectives for 20+ universities, so he has access to actual data.

He would agree with your skepticism on the amount.

Tenn was among a few schools, about 3-4 years ago, offering HS kids here in Atlanta, 100k plus a car to sign..... Auburn and Miami were among these schools.. Just FYI.

We will never know, but 350k for an average P5 TE just seems off and as has been mentioned, all college athlete's have incentive to inflate numbers when they report what is being offered by other teams.

Well no. It’s pay or fall behind. If you wanna talk about overpaid, we will talk about Mitch Barnhart making over a million dollars a year. He shouldn’t be making more than any player.
That’s a bad take. There 80+ players and each will be gone within 5 years. Continuity in the Athletic Dept is how you keep coaches and the various sports producing at a high clip.

Interestingly, it was Marrow today who said the NFL scouts interested in UK’s TEs recognize their abilities to block. Its the whole package with top TEs.

Ours doesn’t value football or approach it like the buisness that it is. Still waiting and hoping for NCAA to get involved. Never gonna happen.

I’m with you. I mean he’s a solid college te but come on. I’m sure some guys are pulling dough but also lots of embellishment. I know some specific people in the hs baseball community that are top ‘elite’ kids that will get drafted in the first 2-3 rounds and the numbers floated out there for their college NIL is way higher than it actually is. Example…one kid is getting 75k but the number being thrown around is like 2-250.

Some is just natural embellishment and both sides benefit from it. From the school end the real players to land a kid like a high number out there to scare others off. If we paid 350 to keep dingle it would be malpractice as little as we even use a te.

Have no idea if these figures are real. Regardless, can anyone tell me exactly what NIL responsibilities Dingle will be fulfilling to “earn” whatever his payment is?

I head about all this NIL money for athletes, and I assume I’m going to see all kinds of appearances and ads associated with these deals… but honestly I never really see or notice all that much.

The appeal to go elsewhere is just to get thrown to.
Absolutely. I wouldn't want to play here if I was a TE. Very few touches and no history of putting guys into the league. That has got to change with our offense. Dingle has shown he can catch the ball.

They overpaid for that quarterback (7 million bucks, never took a snap) pissed off a bunch of their players so they went out on the free agent market and scored. Remember this; there is no more loyalty to a school, a coach, a state or an area. It’s strictly for the money now.

Players are offered/paid what the other team values their worth to be to their team.

UT was down to zero tight ends with experience.

There are no consequences or checks and balances to work required as related to dollar amount given to players.

NIL is truly "no rules" experience right now.

There is no "enforcement " for NIL rules because there are NO NIL rules.

I hope he is getting $350k. That would be great. Absolutely no reason all of these players to accept less than fair market value.

Imo those weren't just some random comments. They were meant to drive home the importance of blocking to dingle who was putrid much of his time here. To his credit he did get better (it couldn't get worse) but he has a long way to go

College Sports is the Wild Wild West now! Kentucky will have to get hard core to survive it!

Stoops comments about ut offering / wanting Dingle is causing a meltdown on vawl twitter 😂😂😂. I’m sure a few will be along soon to plead their case about a lowly UK player and how he would never be worthy of the 6th best program in the SEC.

Even if any NIL rates are inflated “just” 50% across the board that is still wild. That’s what I think people are missing. Quibble with million dollar QBs or $350k 20 reception TEs, but if they make half that it’s still a ton that can shift roster and recruiting/portal priorities.

I still do not believe that NIL is sustainable for more than a handful of the richest programs.

And they can't take and pay ALL the top players. Something has to give.

It’s not. It’s going through the phases of ‘what the hell is going on’ with it. Then you after that you have the schools going ‘we need this too to keep up or to use to get ahead of those with natural recruiting advantages’ then you will eventually have people realize it matters but not to the extent the schools have sold it to fans based that they think it does. I mean all roads lead to college athletics being unionized and contracted at some point. It was going to end that way the day they made the court decision. But it’s a lot of up and down and misdirection in between. All of it could have been done reasonably if they had been proactive instead of Emmert being absent as his job and leaving it all on a court decision

It is still good money for them and many of them honestly don’t support the value of the money they get. A lot of panic going on out there by staffs and schools. If it stays anywhere near the way it is they will have to move more and more to having a ‘front office’ like professionals do so they can ‘run the business end’. Which I don’t mind it will make the coaches more accountable for their actual on field performance and reduce their salaries some because others will have responsibility and accountability for the rosters

I agree, not random, but he said the NFL was looking at Kattus and Dingle because they block. It may have been a message to Anderson and Rodriguez, but he named Dingle as an athlete who blocks.

If Brown ever gets better at running route and catching the majority of the balls coming his way he would be ridiculously good. The Louisville game really made up for a lot this year for him but I want to see him take the next step into becoming what his talent shows he should be.
