No, no and hell no. No offense to Joey but he's too slow to be a dual threat QB and he's WAY to slow to be a WR. Maybe he can put on 25 pounds of muscle and be a TE but he'll probably be too slow for that too.

I was probably only one posting here who had ever seen him play. He was not the starter on his HS team, he was ranked because of the camps. He wasn't as slow as some think, but he doesn't have WR speed. I tried to lower expectations, but was told I was mistaken. Any chance he ever had was gone after spending a year with Gus.

All true and many knew he was a project, but also consider the QB play we had at the time. We were excited about anything.

The ones I am thinking, the 2 transfers, may not have been super talented, but they were winners. Got the most out of their abilities, and that alone is worth alot.

There's a lot of "want to" when it comes to the TE position. You have to want to hit people, and I mean slobberknock em. You have to want to get your uniform dirty with or without the glory. You have to work harder on every play than most any QB.

Got to want to work.

You look at Cobb as an example. Could hage been a great college QB for us, but his future earnings were not as a QB. He's been in the league, what, 10 years? That could've been Gatewood at TE.

You look at Kattus and how that young man plays... He's gonna have to be told no and pushed out the door before he let's someone beat him for the job. I just don't see Gatewood laying the wood to someone or coming up with a clutch 5 yard catch over the middle like Kattus would.

I have to believe Gatewood would be that guy that gives up on plays where he doesn't get the ball, or he'd have done something here. It's a shame really that he wasted his gifts to this point
