Joey Brackets has UK a #1 seed playing in Columbus, Ohio and Louisville, Kentucky

Selfishly, I would love if somehow the Cats ended up in Des Moines for the opening weekend. We just moved out to Des Moines for work back in November, and I have never seen the Cats play a tourney game live.

However, if they are in position to choose, I fear Columbus would be the choice...

Would be nice but they won't do us any favors. Never have, never will.

Thankfully, they might not have a choice. If we can just have decent 3pt shooting, I think Kentucky will make a strong push for a 1-seed. Heck, Oscar alone is probably worth like 20 wins.

And I think Gonzagas walk to a #1 seed won't be as automatic as it was. So for the first time since 2018, I think you'll see the 4 #1 seeds go to power programs (unless Houston gets it).

UK and Calipari are certainly due for a 1 seed. This team on paper does not look like a 1 seed to me, but perhaps they will surprise me.

Their OOC schedule this year is loaded. Think they can still afford 3 or maybe 2 losses as well as 1 in conference play and still be a shoo in for a one.

Obviously the game with us will be a huge deciding factor.. because you're right, I don't see them losing many games.

But, the margin for error is still slim for Gonzaga. They lost 3 games last year and that was with Chet, Nembhard and others. They don't have anyone like Chet this year and I'm not sold that their guards Hickman and others will be game changers for them.

Plus, and this part is pure speculation, but I think the SC is going to make them earn the 1-seed. Two years ago they rode the back of a shortened season with no true road hands to undefeated and a total beat down by Baylor.. last year, similar.. it was their year, and they got upset by Arkansas. I believe (and think) the SC might be a little stiffer on giving them a 1-seed just cause they only lost 3 games.

But more than anything.. their makeup just seems like a past Gonzaga team that usually lands in the 2 to 5seed range.

This is probably correct but if we are the overall #1 seed they will have to.

For this to happen we better beat the Zags in Spokane in Nov.
Within 10 and beat Kansas and Michigan State and have 5 or fewer losses will do it, but who cares. The journey is what matters to me. We are going to be tougher than 50 wharted mother in law

That game only matters from a seeding perspective if Gonzaga wins. We have many more power 5 games after that. They have very few.

The game in Spokane is still just as important to us as its likely both us and the Zags are going to be competing for a 1 seed come march. And the winner of that game will have the crucial H2H result when it comes to comparing resumes.

Dont want to really make this into another Gonzaga dominated discussion, but all I will say to that is I definitely disagree seeing they have a guy in Timme who is up there as Oscar as the best player in the country.

If Toppin at 6’10 is poppin threes like he did in that scrimmage we are going to be dangerous. Dont really like the id of both he and Oscar playing on the perimeter at 6’9 and 6’10, but if they are hitting them..

Timme is a great player but he's a step back (or two) from Oscar.

In Oscar's 1st year with Kentucky he was 18 points and 15 rebounds, on better FG and FT percentages. The rebounds alone put Oscar on a different level. He was POY and it really wasn't all that close down the stretch.

I think Timme is also closer to his ceiling than Oscar is at the moment. And for however good he is, Gonzaga's roster lost more than it added. Replacing Nembhard and Chet will be difficult.

Remember they hosed us in 2019 for the Louisville regional. Would rather be a 3-seed in Louisville than a 1 or 2-seed in another region. But would never happen that way either.

You cant put a UK as a 3 seed or even a 2 seed in the Louisville regional because that just mightily screws over the 1 Seed in our region which deserves more regional preference seeing how they are the 1 Seed.

Exactly, and this is why the only way we get that road is to be #1 in the Nation.

This is simply not true. We all wear blue-tinted glasses.

In 2017 we played in Indy/Memphis (super close sites) ... then the rooferee screwed us.

In 2018 we were playing in Atlanta in the Regional in an arena full on UK fans ... and we couldn't beat Kansas State.

Last year we were playing in the closest 1st/2nd Round site and couldn't beat Saint Peters.

We may not always get what we ant, but the Committee does not screw people. That is a narrative made up by fans.

I've posted this in other threads, but on the first day of the NCAA Tournament it will have been 1,448 days since we won a NCAA Tournament game.

I'll just settle for a win (hopefully Saint Peter's is in another bracket) and worry about where the games are played later.

Translation:

We'll end up a 3 seed playing in Vegas.

We can’t afford to leave any questions. The committee will look for any reason to not put us in louisville. A lot of head coaches complained about just the possibility of that happening the last time it was in play and lo and behold we got shipped.

But anytime other teams get location as a lower seed it’s just justified by w/e logic the committee feels like using in that moment.

It boggles the mind how so many on here still refuse to see clear biases in college sports.

When you arent a 1 seed you cant expect to get favorable locations past the R32 and most teams dont. The simple solution is just to get a 1 seed.

Oh Im a big conspiracy theorist and you are correct. A holding call can be called every single snap, a block/charge can go either way, the bias is built in.
