Javonn Provitt on tape

You are correct, sir. That brightened my day, and it wasn't such a bad day in the first place. He looks like the goods.

I've mentioned it a couple times in other threads, but when Hamilton was considering OSU before the flip to them, some OSU fans came on TOS and indicated they'd rather have Provitt than Hamilton. Not 1 OSU fan, but multiple. The issue with Provitt had always been academic, rather than his talent. Once his academics got shored up, he became a Cat.

He may end up the steal of this class when all is said and done.

Our D-line will have some good depth soon. Some big fellas coming in. Javonn could have a shot at play time this year, seems like a faster Elam.

Freddie Maggard raved about this kid and said that he was likely the most underrated player that signed with UK this signing period.

Amazing "get off" for a DL his size. Best I have seen for a UK recruit in years.

If we add London in the '16 class we are starting to get the type of DL rotation Stoops wants.

Marrow said he did on KSR, or at least heavily implied it. Said something like, "We were in on him early and once he got his academics taken care of he committed."

Whether that means simply was able to visit or if he is 100% cleared I'm not sure. But sounded promising

He comes off the line so fast and so powerful. Great addition. This is the kind of guy we need when we play UGA or LSU.

His first step is really impressive. He stayed in the other teams backfield. Amazing quickness.

Good grief! That kid plays like a D-9 bulldozer powered by nitro-methane. He's a one man wrecking crew. Being 6-3, weighing 310 and running a 5.0 forty, I'd call that gittin'r done. How is this kid not a 4 star prospect? Was it simply a matter of analysts thinking he might not qualify or something?

He runs over centers and guards, plays in the offensive backfield, slings QBs to the ground with a big thud, breaks up handoffs in the backfield, creates fear in running backs, and even blocks field goals. This one is going to be a winner.

Looks like a high 4* maybe 5* to me. How did all the big dogs miss this one. I am suprise OSU did not go after him this kid is a man child the future of D line is looking good. Him and Elam in the middle down the road. Yeah Looking like a SEC D line soon! I am lil more optimistic after seeing his film. GOOD GET STOOPS!

The kid grades pure and simple. When you a kid not taking at least a few visits but tons of names looking at him it grades . They have to meet a certain criteria to take officials.

if i remember right, his teammate on the d-line was a higher rated 4* de and everyone who scouted him came away asking "who is that provitt kid? he's the best player on the field." there never was a good reason for why the low ranking despite everyone saying he had 4* talent. now we all know he was an unlikely qualifier and was just simply ignored. if he does land on campus we got an absolute steal. wish we had held on to hamilton too but i honestly wanted provitt more just based on tape.

First person I thought of was Warren Sapp. Not saying he's gonna be as good as Sapp. Before all the post police come to get me just sayin that's his style. Big, agile with a mean streak. Once someone teaches him leverage he's gonna be a tough guy to handle. Got the bull rush, swim and juke technique down good. He's gonna need a push/pull to play nose in the 3-4 stoops seems fond of. Once he can grab his man and run him straight down the line of scrimmage that's the ball game son. Automatic double team on every snap. Huge pickup IMO.

Im not just saying this cause Im a die hard UK football fan but...........this kid could be the best DT we've had since Dewayne Robertson. How this kid isn't a 4 or 5 star is beyond me. Thank goodness the big timers whiffed on this one. We got a steal folks!

If he can get that kinda push against the SEC OLines in a few years, watch the f out! He is relentless

Because Provitt is a much better player than Hamilton. The only reason why Provitt had a lesser offer sheet is because schools backed off due to earlier academic uncertainties. Stoops and Marrow stayed with him, and it paid off. Provitt got his house in order, and Stoops got a really good defensive tackle. This guy will have an impact in the interior of our defensive line. I won't say he will become our best defensive tackle, because I know what a storm that would set off. But it wouldn't surprise me.
