As long as he doesn't take an official visit to UK and the coaches don't do an in home visit with him. Walk on till practice starts then if one of the 85 scholarships are available he would be able to go on scholarship. He would then count as one of the 25 for the 2016 class instead of 2015 but would still be eligible for the 2015 season. Blue shirting. I think this may be the plan for K Ross.Originally posted by Deeeefense:

I thought Ross was making an official visit this weekend. No?Originally posted by jmalone7us:

Noticed that. A week ago, he was ready to commit. Does he have a committable offer? Reading between the lines, our coaches would be satisfied with Ross but he is a back up plan for now. If they can sign Jabari Greenwood, AD Miller, and Tavin Richardson, then Ross might be odd man out.Originally posted by jmalone7us:
Ross canceled this weekends visit. Supposed to now visit next weekend. We will see if it turns out to be an official visit or an unofficial visit.
If he doesn't sign a LOI then of course he doesn't count toward that 25. OTOH if he does not sign but still enrolls in the fall on scholarship then he DOES count toward the NCAA limit of 25 initial counters just like Melvin Lewis did and Mathis would have.Originally posted by Deeeefense:

C1180, a bad day no question. Ulizio to Michigan, Dowdy to WVU, Ross doesn't show, Booker cancels visit recommits to Wisconsin, Miggins visits but says Miss St still leads, Dinson decommits. UK can't stand many more days like this.Originally posted by C1180:
The Cats seem to be going in the wrong direction in commits. It doesn't look to me that having spots for recruits is going to be a problem. If things continue in the present direction UK might not have enough recruits to fill their SS slots available. It seems some of the commitments to UK are a little shaky. The type that I am committed unless big time U offers.
Blue Decade, completely understand what you're saying and sure as hell hope you're right. As for Marrow, what do you honestly expect him to say?Originally posted by Blue Decade:
You can't predict recruiting by what happens on 1 day in January. Our coaches know what they are doing. Coach Marrow telling people Kentucky will finish up recruiting strong. A lot of players have visited recently. There is almost always more going on behind the scenes than we know. We probably hold onto Strowbridge and Hamilton. Rumors going around that our coaches dropped Dowdy to use the scholarship elsewhere, Miller and couple of other players flipping to Kentucky, Ross doesn't have a committable offer yet. The best part of this class will be on the defensive side, where we need it the most right now.

In every recruiting season, there are good days and bad days. After watching other recruiting classes, you just can't predict the outcome for the class by what happens during 1 day. We don't even know what happened behind the scenes. As for Marrow, it doesn't matter what I expect him to say. He doesn't have to say anything, and no 1 would think anything of it if he didn't. I expect another strong class. Until we see how this turns out in 2 weeks, there isn't any point in overreacting to 1 day.Originally posted by mrschwump:Blue Decade, completely understand what you're saying and sure as hell hope you're right. Regardless, this has been a bad day for UK football recruiting and if the latest bit of news turns out to be true it's about to get worse. Even the most optimistic UK fan can see the truth.
Stop being so insightful. It messes up the overly excitable/negatory crowd.Originally posted by Blue Decade:

LOL! Two schools of thought here. On a negative day, 1 school defaults to Kentucky will never be successful in football, school favors basketball, should have hired Spurrier, don't like the stadium remodel, bad recruiting, bad play calling, so forth. Other school thinks Stoops should be given 4-5 years to show results, like the stadium remodel, recruiting better now than before, things headed in a better direction, year by year improvement, so forth. Not everyone is radicalized to extremes, but this is the general tone. If Stoops produces a bowl bid, the line will be redrawn between fans who see it as proof of progress, and others who see it as evidence that there are too many bowls. If Stoops wins the SEC title, some will say it took too long. Just hope respect will be shown where fairly earned.Originally posted by vhcat70:Stop being so insightful. Moot point now because he is committed. However, you become an "initial counter" for the sport in the year in which you first receive financial aid.Originally posted by jmalone7us:If he enrolls as a walk on and then takes a scholarship he can count towards the 2016 class instead of 2015 as long as he doesn't take an official visit and coaches don't do an in home visit.Originally posted by RV2:
