Jamal Murray

Personally, I think we have two top three players coming in.

Simmons and Labissiere are the only guys I would have above Murray based on the way he played in the Pan Am Games. None of the guys ranked above him have played that kind of competition. I would be shocked if he didn't dominate at the college level.

Is he elegible? Has he been cleared? I'm not so confident guys... He almost left UK to play for the Canadian national team, after all. It really hives me the the chills..

I think you are overreacting, it was always on the Canadian coaches to get this approved for Murray with the NCAA, they knew UK's stance, which was if he can get approved for missing school without hurting his playing status then it was fine for him to play for the Canadians. It didn't happen, and he was eligible to play when he committed.

The worst thing about the Kanter situation is that now every time we get somebody that's foreign or has even the slightest whiff of an issue somewhere, our fans start to freak out about their not being eligible.

we also had 3 in the top 10 for the class oxf Noel, Goodwin, and Poythress and we know how that turned out. Let's just hope we have an injury free season

An injury could derail any team. If we lost AD in 2012, we don't go to the Final Four, let alone win a title.

We've been "snake-bitten" the last three years (Noel, WCS, and Poy). We are due an (season ending) injury free season. At least I hope we are due.

I think that is one of the keys every season. Teams rarely win titles after a season ending injury to a key player (starter or key reserve).

As for this year's team compared to 2013, we have more talent on this year's team, more experience, and more depth.

I don't think it's a fair comparison.

That team's best returnee was Wiltjer and they started Ryan Harrow at PG.

Losing their best player may have also had an impact.

If I were you, I might try to look at this glass as half full. It's really 95% full, but half would be a good start.

Yeah but they were a tournament team before Noel went down, the committee said so themselves, and harrow was too mentally weak to play for a program of this caliber. Now we have a senior poythress, also UK is much stronger in the point guard position as compared to that season. I could go on but I feel the differences between this season and that season have been discussed thoroughly on this message board over the summer.

Umm, not all recruiting classes are created equal. Being a top 10 player in one class doesn't automatically mean you're a top 10 player across the board, in every class.

Seriously, after reading a few of your posts today, are your takes always this bad or are you just trying extra hard today?

I believe if Noel doesn't get hurt, the Cats lose in the sweet sixteen or elite eight

I tend to agree. We at least make the tourney, and with Noel we would have a good shot at a pretty deep run.

I wish Teague would have been patient and stayed for one more season, maybe Noel doesn't get hurt and we end up with another Final Four. Teague probably goes in the lottery in the 2013 draft and might be in a good situation now.

And despite Noel's season ending injury the dumbass Gators continue to have that dangerous goal set up

That was a weeeeeeeak class. Any of the top 10 of this class would have been top 3 in that one.

Some of those rankings came out before Murray torched the USA team. He's been overwhelmingly consistent in all of the high level games. I think it's clear he's a top 5 freshman.

The rate that people completely miss sarcasm on this board is absolutely astounding....

The rate that people say something when they are totally uninformed and later try to pass it off as sarcasm is absolutely astounding. I got the message on this one "hives me the chills"..........was a dead give away but some are not here every day. Show some tolerance.:okay:

I was joking. Poking fun at people worried about Skal. I'm excited to see Murray play, and you're right about Murray.

Rankings doesn't mean much as its what you accomplish on the floor as a team that matters.
That's right. Recruiting is a means to an end, not an end in itself. To those who are still fussing about where Jamal Murray is ranked, or where our last class is ranked, that horse is already out of the barn. The players that have signed with us are what they are. No matter what they are ranked on the internet, our team is what it is. Now they have to get on the floor and play basketball, which is the only thing that matters.

Oh yes rankings do matter ..You give me top 10 guys and you take top 50-100 guys and we'll see who wins..As Cal says take talent everytime...imo top 5-10 guys will accomplish more on the court than top 50-100..same as being ranked # 1 in the polls..it matters too..good for recruiting and means you're a great team..And i'll bet the champion will be ranked in the top 10 this year...

I'd say most agree now that he's the best overall.guard coming I to college...rankings are out the window.

I remember seeing somewhere that Murray is projected as high lottery in next year's draft.

The point that I made is not saying the top 10 would beat the top 50-100. Every top 10 player will not out play every player ranked lower than them. The rank of players surely matters in some players but is certainly not a guarantee that it is correct in others. Good example of that was the 2014 UConn title winners. Ranking wise they should not have won the title but they did. Ranking is just a very subjective number that may hold true or it doesn't always hold true.

We also had three top freshmen in 2011 and made the Final Four.
We also had three top freshmen in 2012 and won the national championship.
We also had four top freshmen in 2014 and played in the Final Game.
We also had three top freshmen in 2015 and played in the Final Four.

Odd you chose to mention 2013 only. Maybe you are just a pessimist.

Yeah, isn't it bizarre some "UK fans" chose to focus so much on one year out of six seasons, and it is the one where UK had an injury to its best player (which they always ignore), and had a down season (OMG, those are not allowed at UK. Rupp, Hall, Sutton, Pitino, Tubby and BCG never had those! LOL) after winning a title in 2012.

We go to the Final Four in four of the last five years, yet people constantly bring up the one season where we didn't make the tourney.

I'm pretty sure that season would be what scientist refer to as an anomaly (something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected).

I miss which one said that. Which one was he?
