On ESPN 3. If you're watching, let's discuss how our player is doing.

This is the final game of the preliminary round, Canada leads group B.

Jamal Murray coming into the game for the first time, 3:50 left in the first quarter. Kid got a big ovation.

Sweet floater in transition for Murray. First shot taken, first 2 points of the night for him.

Murray 3/3 from the floor. His second shot was a floater after a spin move between the screen man, and the defender to get into the lane, and his 3rd shot was a drive into the lane, pass fake, double-clutch layup. Insane body control.

Notta problem! Murray being a bit sloppy with the ball. Youth showing from time to time, but that's to be expected when you're a boy amongst men. Starters came back in, Team Canada leaving Murray out on the floor though.

Scoop shot off the baseline drive. 4/4 from the field.

So does Ulis lose his starting p.guard role? I have posted elsewhere that Murray seems best with the ball in his hand. I know it is an unpleasant subject but it sure seems clear that Murray is not a 2 guard.

While it's a popular belief around here as of late, Murray's passing ability, court vision, and ball control doesn't touch Ulis'.
Murray will get some run at the point, but he's not going to take Ulis' spot at PG. Ulis will see over 30 mpg as a 1.

Haslip is a 2 guard, I don't see how someone (other than wishful thinking) from observations of the Canada and Nike games can say Murray is a catch and shoot 2 guard. I also think Ulis is a special talent but Murray looks impressive too. Something is going to have to give though. Maybe the dribble drive offense returns is the only thing I can think might work.

All three of our main guards are going to have the ball in their hands running the offense at times.

They should compliment each other.

Ulis is a pass first guy who can knock down shots. Briscoe is a guard that loves to take it to the rim and score, but can also pass. Murray can just do it all. He can shoot, score, or set up his teammates.

They all three can get their teammates involved, they can make others better. Once they get in synch with each other, it should be fun to watch them together.

Everyone on this team better be ready for the ball because all three of those guys see the floor well and can pass.

Position- less basketball

Relax. It's a good problem to have and much like 2010 and last year, it will work out.

Some of you will get worked up about anything.

I love Ulis. Having said that, Murray is the truth. Briscoe is for real too. Man alive, what a hell of a backcourt our Wildcats will have. I eagerly await to see how it all plays out.

Cal will keep Ulis at PG no matter what, much like he did Andrew last year. He values the experience there. I am curious if Ulis will get attacked like Andrew did at times last year (on here and by the media) if Murray has some better games overall when playing the PG position.

thats 45 pts through 3 games for being a back up and the young pup of the tournament.

But Murray is more of a combo guard so IMHO everything depends on how good our two SF recruits are by the start of the season because I can see a 3 guard lineup working very well

I must have missed the part where anyone has ever said that Murray was a "catch and shoot" 2 guard.

Uh... no.

Ulis is already one of the best decision makers/passers in CBB. You add in his great catch-and-shoot abilities, you have someone who won't put himself in a position to get similar treatment to Andrew, who just flat out sucked during large stretches.

No biggie, but it's 46 pts. 12, 20, and 14.

For those curious about Murray's stat-line tonight, he scored 14 points (6-9 from the field), 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

Holy moley... He won a 3 point contest in a all star game earlier this summer. His shot will be respectable at the least.

His concerns are valid.

Briscoe has shot the 3-ball at a below average rate at every level/team,etc. + his shooting motion is slow.

You are one of the posters I was thinking of...Tyler Ulis walks on water to you. Ulis had several stretches where he "sucked" last year as well, but was given a pass by people like you.

I'm not going to disagree he is a better overall PG than Harrison...but people like you are overrating him quite a bit based on last season. He is a very good passer and shot the 3 ball very well last year. He needs to work on expanding his offensive game though and his D (especially against Wisconsin) was not always great.

Note: Sucked was in "" for a reason...I was mocking the other poster who bashes Andrew Harrison so much. Ulis struggled at times, just like everyone else did last year.

I don't remember Tyler Ulis ever sucking last year, and I watched every game.

He definitely had some games where he struggled. Suck was the other posters word...I used it in "" for a reason. And he was a freshman last year, so that is expected.

This is basically a people love Ulis and people didn't like Andrew Harrison experiment by me. Its funny how people bash Andrew for "losing" the Wisconsin game but forget he was one of the main reasons UK was not blown out when they got down 8-9 points a couple of times.

I digress...sorry OP, let's get this back on topic.
