What is the deal with this guy?

Both 247 and ESPN have him listed as having an offer from UK.

This is out of the ordinary considering this kid is a 4-star with a composite ranking of 88.

Cal rarely offers guys ranked that low, especially this early.

Anyone have any info on this kid and why he has an offer this early?

I think we've backed off, waited to see if he shot up in the rankings over the summer and that didn't happen. It was probably a contingency offer. Although we could always use some players like him to round out the roster, assuming he's a good kid etc..

Classic case of a kid who was fully grown at an early age (or was slightly older than his class), then started sliding in the rankings once other guys caught up to him physically. UK was sniffing around him a few years ago, but it seems totally unlikely that he has a real scholarship offer now.

Just watched some highlights of his and he looked like a kid that would never get off the bench for Cal. Slow, not very athletic, missed every shot when contact was made, and made a few follow up layins. Those were his "highlights" on the video. Just didn't seem like the type of player Cal would be interested in at all. Am I wrong about him?

So are we spoiled? This kid is ranked #88 in the country and we are asking, "Why is Cal offering this guy?" IU just had 3 guys like him commit and they are going crazy how good recruiting is going. I am with you guys tho, y are we offering 4 stars?

We offered him several years ago but he's gone the way of LaQuinton Ross. I'm sure it's understood that the offer doesn't stand.
