I'm pretty sure I know how you guys/fans feel about both teams. But was hoping to get some honest feedback as to who you guys think will win the game this year.
I am asking you guys out of respect for your Bball program and knowledge of the game. Thanks in advance!

Indiana seems to be highly ranked this year but I honestly don't know much about them. Last year you guys had basically no big men, same thing this year?

IU has a freshman mcds aa at center and a grad transfer from MICH. IU can score, will need to fix D

Duke wins due to the following:

1) It's at Duke
2) Coaching
3) Talent
4) Experience (winning at an elite level)
5) They are Duke, and IU is not

IU can give them a game but K last year showed he'll play zone and I expect him to against IU if you guys are hitting jumpers. Duke pulls away in the 2nd half to win by 6.

I agree on coaching and venue being huge factors in this game. Not so sure about duke holding an advantage in talent!

Crean is a better giant killer than a whole season coach. It's an early game, too, which also favors him. So I would honestly call it for IU....

Except it's at Duke.

8 on 5, OP. Sorry about your luck.

I think it could be close. IU was set to have a pretty good year if Bryant plays well.

IU's problem is depth, especially in the front court. The latest round of dismissals really killed that for them. If Bryant gets in early foul trouble, it could get ugly.

Duke -7.

On a neutral court I would have to give IU a pretty good chance. But like others have said, it being @ Cameron, good luck playing 8 on 5.

Personally I think IU has the better backcourt. Toss up on the front court. Edge to duke for venue and coaching.

I actually think IU will win the game -- and I say that as someone who will be rooting for Duke.

It's a Dec. 2 game. Offense will still be ahead of defense then. Experience will still be at a peak value. Indiana can shoot the ball, so playing zone is no panacea against them. K's teams that are dominated by freshmen tend to take time to jell. On the other hand, Clappy the Clown and his rah-rah manic bull-bleep hasn't worn thin with his players that early. The Indiana swoon usually starts in January.

In March, Duke would win easily on a neutral court, much less at home. Duke will be a factor in the NCAA tournament. Indiana, as always, will not. But I do think they win on December 2.

Hard to argue this analysis. IU def loses momentum in January!

IU is projected to be the best outside shooting team in the country this year.....unfortunately your defense last year was not just bad it is was atrocious. So in order for IU to make a big improvement this year: 1. Thomas Bryant needs to provide a legitimate low post threat to generate a few higher percentage looks and 2. The team defense needs to greatly improve. At times last year it appeared IU was playing like the Don Nelson/Baron Davis Warrior teams who didn't even try on defense and only won by outscoring their opponents. In my opinion it all starts with Yogi if you get your senior team leader to buy in the rest will follow. IF IU actually plays some defense this year they have a chance against Duke and everybody else....

Good comparison of the Def last year!!!! I agree that with an improved D that IU could play with anybody.

I personally think UK will destroy duke on 11/17

I don't trust Crean in games like this. If it was in Bloomington I would say IU would win because Duke is young and that's a tough gym to play in but very few teams go into Cameron and come away with a win. Crean is not capable of winning in that type of scenario. Duke by 10.

I think Duke takes IU easily. Even though IU has a lil more talent in the frontcourt and have elite talent in the backcourt, I will never be thinking Crean is capable of out coaching K during any kind of game. Crean sucks at coaching. I'm sure he will have IU near %500 during the season.

IU isn't going to beat Duke at Duke(not many are,the refs are too afraid of K to allow that to happen)

As a few others have said on a neutral site early in the year it might be a pretty good game.It will take Duke a while to learn to play without last year's studs and the new guys are a notch or two under that bunch(talent wise)

Based on talent and coaching i would pick Duke by 10 on a neutral court. At IU this would be a good game. At Duke, which it is, I could see this being a blowout. I think Duke by 15-20.

Haven't heard a lot about IU...maybe that works to their favor...

everyone knows what they're getting with Duke in Cameron Indoor...i don't know that anyone on IU's squad has any kind of experience with that type of setting and atmosphere...

All in all i think Duke will have too many horses...specifically around the perimeter...

Grayson Allen, Luke Kennard, Derryck Thornton i think will prove to be too much...I mean all of those guys will be playing in the pros at some point...and then you have Ingram and Jeter, two more pros in the paint...

IU wins on a last second shot...it will be the start of the 2nd movement. Players will be kissed, late night banners will be raised, Sweet Sixteens will be made...it will pretty much change the landscape of college basketball as we know it.
I hope at least part of that is true,I would love to see ESPN show Duke on the wrong end of a last second shot for the next 20 years

Have to disagree about the perimeter matchup being in dukes favor. Your other point is pretty valid though. Cameron is def a difficult place to get a W on the road!

Are you kidding playing at Duke !!!! , Byrant will have two fouls in the lay up line during warm ups , just don't see IU getting any breaks there ,Duke by 12

Dook has more talent but very young.
IU has more talent than last year but still needs developed big men.
Game is at Dook.
K is K while Crean is...well, Crean.
IU's defense is subpar, but Dook's will be underdeveloped too, especially early on.
IU's only chance is that Dook's young guns haven't meshed much and that IU gets a hot hand.

Bottom line: IU within 3 at the half but Dook pulls away in the last ten minutes to win by 12-15.

I'm actually a little more worried about Duke's offense early on. I'm just going off what Krzyzewski was saying after the Blue/White Game during Countdown To Craziness. Since I didn't actually see it, I'll definitely take him at his word. He thought the defense was ahead of the offense. We'll see if that gap has closed a bit this Friday since Duke plays their first exhibition. Granted it's a Division II team in Florida Southern, so obviously this won't be on par with what they'll see from Kentucky, IU, etc., but that team did win the Division II national title last season, so they should bring a disciplined, well coached team into Cameron. Fine opponent to schedule for an exhibition.

Your prediction seems fair. IU can certainly get a hot hand and having a senior point guard in Yogi Ferrell certainly helps. Given K's quote, the game being at Duke and what IU brings to the table, I'll say Duke by somewhere in the 6 to 10 range.
