Two possibilities.
1. Coen has accepted the job and can't announce until NFL season is over.
2. And this one scares the crap out of me. Gran is coming back as OC and Stoops sitting on it until portal period passes and signing day gets over with so as not to lose WR to portal and decommits.

I suspect that Stoops is very well aware that #2 would basically nosedive his career. If Gran comes back on staff, it'll almost certainly be as Coen's (or whomever takes the OC position's) RB coach/ run game coord.

Gran should absolutely be the RB coach. Really if you think about it his run game schemes especially in 2019 were absurdly impressive. Give him some time with the Oline too.
It's quiet here but the MJ post here was broke by Drummond earlier today. Travis broke the news on the qb and rb they expect UK is after. They both announced they entered the portal today
I liked Coen from day one, he’s young and going to get even better. I never felt good about Scan, I don’t think he meshed with the players very well.
What's that got to do with Coen to UK? That's talking about their OC fron last year that coaches the vikings
I don't see #2as a concern. There is another time a kid can enter the portal, so this one now isn't the only opportunity. I personally think if a coaching change occurs after signing day a kid should be allowed to get out of his LOI if that is what he wants. I know commit to a school not a coach, but that isn't the case 9 times out of 10.
You are correct about the second portal period, but unless a player is pretty special, there may not be many opportunities in the portal for a place to land.
That 85 player roster limit is going to bite a lot of players who enter the portal thinking they can find a better place to play. Portal is heavily populated with players looking for a home right now.
Georgia is probably not an option for any of those players in the portal. Kirby recruits and develops his own talent.

If no smoke/rumors are afloat, it sounds like a strong preliminary agreement has been reached.
If Stoops were on the phone and flying for interviews, there would likely be hints of it.
Stoops said he's interviewing another guy this week. Could be a bad sign that Coen turned it down.
Once gran came back around last year the offense started to struggle. I’m of the opinion when you fire someone you keep them as far as possible from the team.
Doesn’t matter just being around his former players is toxic. Not to mention any oc looking over their shoulder
If the OC is worried about stoops personal assistant then they shouldn’t be OC to begin with.

I need to see a offensive coordinator hired and I need to start seeing some recruits committing. I'm getting tired of seeing these quarterbacks dropping off the board that I'd like to have.
This is why I don't agree with giving contract extensions and all that shit until you show me who your recruiting this year. Cuz I got a sneaky suspicion Kentucky Wildcats are going to suck ****ing ass in football next year. I'm a little nervous about the recruiting.
As the TEAM stands right now I don't see how they win six games next year. they need a quarterback , running back, and a lot of other things before I'll say they can win six.

If Coen has accepted the OC position, is there any possibility he would return to UK prior to the bowl? Seems highly unlikely unless it's OKed by McVay.
Stoops said he has gotten a lot of interest in the position and is going to make sure he gets the right fit. Has talked to one and will talk to another this week. But I think there are several that has inquired. I am just worrying about not getting the best QB available if it goes on a while.
Probably can't come until NFL season ends due to contract requirements. Not sure if it could happen, but guess anything is possible.
This has been every one of stoops coordinator searches. People forget it’s always quiet.
1. Gran was back on sidelines in his new capacity last year...and it didn't impact the offense a bit last year
2. When exactly in 2022 did you notice Gran started to be around the offense that impacted things.....to be fair..the offense was a hot mess all of last year. There was never a time it was worse vs. better IMO
The auto renewal at 7 games was removed on this contract. If that's what you're referencing.
#2 is crazy talk. If Stoops wanted Gran to be his offensive Coordinator he would have never fired him .
