I refuse to judge the season for my beloved cats anymore by their performance in a corrupt, inept,terribaly ran bogus NCAA basketball tournament.
I woke up this morning finding out who won. I didn't waste my time yesterday watching. I got some sleep. It is a damned shame what is allowed to go on. I won't speak of it anymore but it is a shame.
You can't just overlook what corruption does but you don't have to partake of it. Were it my choice I would leave them to their corruption and start something different OR fight it a whole lot harder than it is being fought. Only two options...that or die.
, our championship with Cal had the two top players in the class. We haven't been getting those recruits for a while. Cal has slipped a little since 2012 in that regard. We won't win championships with a revolving door of 4-7 guys leaving and restocking on top 10-25 range "OAD's". We need to tweak the system just a little but it won't happen so just keep moving and hope for the best.
But Cal can still be known as a very good coach and 3rd best in his era. He'll never be Roy or K now but 3rd isn't bad.
He's gotta get titles here or he failed as coach here. ALL THAT TALENT
We need to stick to one thing. First we have the talent but got screwed by the officiating. Now we don't have the talent to win it all. Which is it? We've been in the position to win it all almost every year Cal has been here.

We were probably the worst officiated half and a scrub from hee haw north Carolina hitting a buzzer beater from most likely winning this year.
2 years ago, a missed shot clock violation from playing for 40-0.
We don't need to tweak a thing. Elite 8 and final 4 games can go either way. Would john Higgins not have blown his whistle on a 2nd or 3rd year superstar?

They sure do. They talk them into staying so to better their own interests and not the player. Rip on Cal all you want, some of it is deserved, but the one thing I respect about Cal is he really cares about these kids and their future. I can't say the same for Williams, Pitino, and K.
Louisville, Duke, and UNC have each won since our championship.
What does my comment have to do with cheering or not cheering for the Cats. I was born cheering for my Cats.
Five years seems like an eternity when you want a championship. Simple enough.
At this point i don't care anymore. Everyone is coming out of this deal great except for UK fans. Cal has gotten filthy rich, players use us as a stepping stone each year to become rich, but the fans have gotten nothing but consistent heartbreak in the tournament and we don't get rich.
When Cal arrived I was 150% in favor of the way he did OAD. I no longer feel that way. I'm sick of watching other top schools return some of their best players each year while we lose ours and even some of our freaking role players. It's BS.
@morgousky is absolutely right. Our recruiting has dipped really since our title but even more since the Towns class. Towns was the last transcendent player we have had. Monk and Fox were unreal but they weren't Davis, Towns, Wall or Cousins level. If you'll notice, Towns' class was the last one Antiqua was here to recruit for. I'm praying we add him back and get back to getting the truly top players again. But, even if we start getting those top guys again it won't matter unless we start keeping some of our good freshmen.
Horrible take. Just keep on praising low life cheaters.
Kentucky has won 4 titles in the past 60 years roughly. Get over it OP

I don't think some people are payIng attention to recruiting like we used to. Cal isn't the best recruiter in the game right now, coach K is. Not only is he landing higher rated freshman, He's taking them from us. Cal is playing in the 10-25 range moreso than he ever had while still trying to push OAD OAD OAD. We'll have to disagree on this one J, we cannot win championships ewitbout multiple freshman like AD and MKG, and we also had two players come back due to a lock out that wouldn't normally. 2012 is turned my into an outlier with this system.
No argument from me on the NCAA and committee. They can burn in hell.But Cal is gonna have to figure out how to put some teams together and go around them. Our roster management hasn't been that great.

And dumb enough. Any moron who says you should be able to expect to win a title every 5 years is simply not an intelligent poster. One title every 10 years and one final four every 3-4 years. That is a historically achievable goal.

We've waited 5 years and the sky is falling.
Only two programs have won more titles than UK since Cal arrived: UConn and Duke.
UConn is facing the possibility that Ollie is their Tubby (win a title his first year with Pitino/Calhoun's players and then struggle).
Duke seems to be in a state of flux after their "Dream Team" fell apart and their rival cut down the nets.
Everything seems fine in Lexington to me. Cal isn't cheating like Roy. Cal isn't dealing with turmoil like K. No criminal scandals like in Lawrence.
I would say you guys are younger than me, because I remember waiting almost 20 years for a title (78 to 96) and another almost decade and a half between the next two titles (98 to 12). Five years isn't bothering me.
With Cal we will have a decent shot every year and a really, really good shot every 2-3 years.

UNC just won their third in 12 years.
You can "expect" whatever you want. But t doesn't take a decade to win a title if you're a blue blood who's making the right moves.

Maybe you liked the Okafor class better. And they did win the ship. But was that class better than Towns/Lyles/Booker/Ulis?
I can see Ingram/Kennard class as better than Murray/Briscoe/Skal.
But they've gotten one Sweet Sixteen since then to our one Elite Eight.
Is K really the better recruiter? Or are we just sharing more players with Duke than we used to?
Yes, we have a bunch of 10-25 guys next year. Maybe we should see how they play, and how long they stick around before we judge their merits. Maybe we should even see how the class fills out.
Our class next year won't stick around. They'll leave asap even if they shouldn't unless one of them is a Briscoe style who can't go then they'll leave after two.
My point about recruits is if we're gonna have freshman revolving doors, they've got to be superb. They can't be 2 year tweeners pretending to be OAD's. They need to be Davis, cousins, wall, Randle etc for us to have a chance. We're not gettin those right now. At this second cal is the second best recruiter in the game and I just don't think that's enough when you consider our system and the difficulties that surround us.

There are all kinds of ways to twist numbers.
Duke and K went from 1992 to 2001 between titles. 9 years.
Then they went from 2001 to 2010 between titles. 9 years.
Cal's first six years at UK, UNC missed the Final Four ever year.
But K and Duke stole our title in 2015. And UNC has been back two years running.
So now they are doing it right, and we are behind the eight ball.
Meanwhile, Bill Self is 0 for his last 5 tournaments. Guess we can stop crying about him...temporarily.
