Is this Penny’s final season at Memphis?

Good lord, elaborate or shut the hell up

Screw Penny. We should have had Wiseman this year and he would have been eligible. Horrible what he did to that kid.
The NCAA would have made him ineligible here when he was ratted out for receiving money to move to Memphis.

How is this any different than other school playing ineligible players, Arizona, Kansas, LSU, Duke, Louisville all come to mind.
Ncaa ruled Wisemen ineligible and Memphis said we don’t care and played him anyway. Even going as far as to get a court order against the NCAA. The players at the schools you listed were never ruled ineligible. That’s the difference.

Penny lied willingly to the Wiseman family. They in turn chose to trust and believe him. Then he thought it would be a good idea to ignore the NCAA ruling and play Wiseman anyway.
All of this falls on Penny and the school. They bought a player. Knew he was bought and played him anyway when were told not to.
This is as cut and dried of a case of breaking the rules as can be. They've earned their punishment.

I mean, what did they think was going to happen? Penny, the AD, and the president should all be fired. And I don’t mean fired because they are crooked cheats. I mean fired because they are all clearly incompetent.

Wasn't he only ineligible because Penny was considered a "booster" for Memphis though? I got the impression he would have been eligible literally anywhere else
Yep. Penny was a Memphis booster, gave money to the Wiseman family and then got hired as coach and recruited the kid to Memphis. You just can’t do that. Any other school wouldn’t have had a booster give him anything.

Although I’m sure the NCAA would have found a reason to punish UK anyway. :D

The facts are important here, because Memphis fans will run over here and tell everyone you are wrong.

The NCAA did not declare Wiseman ineligible. The NCAA initially cleared Wiseman, and then told Memphis that he was "likely ineligible" once the moving expenses came to light. It was Memphis' responsibility at that point to declare him ineligible and then apply for reinstatement.

Memphis refuse to declare Wiseman ineligible. Wiseman then hired an attorney to push through an injunctive order that blocked Memphis from ruling him ineligible. Memphis knew that the injunction was baseless and that they would ultimate have to oppose it in conjunction with the NCAA.... but pretended they had no choice but to continue playing Wiseman at that point. Bad move.

Memphis= the dumbest institution of higher learning ever. Same thing I said when they played Rose who the ncaa also told them had eligibility concerns. Just like in 08 Memphis thought they were some super power that doesn't have to follow the same rules as the rest. They will deserve everything they get, again.

Sadly they let two better coaches go just to end up hiring a guy on a promise that fell through. Stupid people run things down there.

Please give Penny what he deserves and please let this be in our favor in regards to Cisse! Anybody heard anything on Cisse or Kepnag recently?
The way that pathetic, little fan base of theirs tried to rub it in our face when they got Wiseman. I hope they get the death penalty. And I hope that Penny is banned from college coaching for ever. All Penny did was ruin the college career of James Wiseman pretty much before it got started. And costed us a national championship.
Imagine what our starting 5 would be with Wiseman. With Wiseman, just go ahead & hang the banner.
Immanuel Quickley - 6'3
Tyrese Maxey - 6'3
Ashton Hagans - 6'3
Nick Richards - 6'11
James Wiseman - 7'1

Penny wanted all the smoke, but we didn't know he was going to burn the basketball program down to the ground.Monday fo early f
