I say yes. He will get eaten alive in NBA. He need to pound the weights and learn a few things he will never get in the NBA.

Name a player on any team in college basketball other than Ben Simmons who isn't at least a 2 year player. There isn't one. The thing is, and I reckon the OP already knows this, this day and age it doesn't matter that these guys should stay in school. Get that money, money, money.

The kid stands flat footed trying to rebound most of the time. To me, it's the most frustrating thing about his game.

2 years. Those top ten projections will go by the wayside as the season goes on.

1 year. I'd be willing to bet you any amount that you'd feel comfortable losing.

He's a refugee from probably the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. He should go if he is a first round pick. He probably needs to take care of his family.

He is two years. First of all it will take him this year to learn just the fundamentals of basketball. He is that far behind. A year to build his body as he has absolutely NO BODY STRENGTH. He has tremendous natural instincts but really is a year away. 2 years away from being a top 5. As Cal says "whats the hurry?"

fundamental isn't something you learn and it's done.

Fundamental is something you keep polishing. Look at Steph Curry. He's still working on his shots, dribbling, and etc.

This is what it comes down to for Skal and NBA...this is a horrid draft outside of #1 pick. Here are the top 15 kids on most mock boards.

- Ben Simmon
- Brandon Ingram
- Kris Dunn
- Jaylen Brown
- Buddy Hield (Oklahoma)
- Ivan Rabb...who isn't exactly setting the world on fire.
- Jamal Murray
- Sabonis (Gonzaga)
- Damien Jones (Vandy)
- Jacob Poettl (Utah)
- Check Diallo
- Denzel Valentine

I'm sure there is 1-2 foreigners that will crack the lottery talk as draft approaches. But when it comes down to it...Skal shows any signs of scoring double digits and rebounding to a mediocre level, I think his potential of shooting stroke looking so good for a big man, etc..will get him in the lottery It's just a sad truth, college b-ball is so down this year this is a terrible draft.

Do we really need him to return for one more year. marques bolden needs his ride.

Yeah, to be honest I'd rather have Bolden unless Skal improves a ton between now and March (and if he does, he is gone!). I know people fall in love with experience, and wanting more of it, but if we can sign 7 5 star players for this coming year's recruiting class and return say Matthews, Willis, Hawkins, Mulder...then I'm good with it. Of course Hump and Tai would be back as well.

Why do we assume Bolden will be a great? I have been hard on Skal, but i think he can be HUGE asset next year. Between bulking and having better understanding of basketball, he can become amazing player for us next year. Combine that with his ability to score, and maybe Skal will be noticeably ahead of Bolden by season starts.

Just don't see him dropping out of the first round of a bad draft. Therefore, I don't see him returning.

I've been saying for weeks. I mean come on guys. If he doesn't improve DRASTICALLY by the tourney. Then well he's prolly coming back for his Sophomore year. And a bigger, stronger, more experienced, more comfortable, SKAL would be the number 1 pick next year.

Cal gave the answer last night when he said he was treating him different than KAT. Said all the pressure was off on Skal. He said everything he did with KAT was having him ready to leave last year he is treating Skal differently.
Personally id soon have Bolden. Physically eady or close to it. I love Skal but a whole lot of work in front of him

I would love for Skal to come back next year. The kid is going to be a very, very good player with time. His shot is a thing of beauty. Kid just needs to build strength and work on fundamentals to reach his potential. 2 years at Kentucky could have huge benefits for him if he wants to have a long career. Feel that if he jumps this year he may not make it to a 2nd contract. Just amazes me how many fans have already given up on the kid.

With every team in the NBA aligning with a DLeague team, it makes it easier to take kids who have yet to reach their potential because they won't waste away on the bench.

It's in our best interest that he plays well enough to leave. Otherwise, we're not doing anything this season. If he doesn't improve, then why do people think he'd make some huge leap the next year? He'd be coming off the bench again.

I'm in the minority that believe without significant improvement he will be back next year. If the draft were tomorrow he has no chance of going in the top 10, and he is a top 10 talent so there would be a lot of incentive for him to return and try to take advantage of that pay jump.

It IS hard to believe those Mock Drafts, but then again, WCS was at the top of them last year and went #6. And he even was even put on the All American Team, despite never having had one single year with above average accomplishments other than "Dunk of the Week" category. Sometimes the Mocks get "real", as Draft day nears, and sometimes even the NBA make bad draft decisions. Willie is averaging 5 & 5 for 14 minutes in the League so far and Skal is actually doing as good stat wise as Willie ever did in College save a few rebounds.
