Is It Just Me, Or is Harbaugh a Goof?

I'm sorry, I know this guy won at Stanford and at the 49ers, but the guy is a total goof and frankly, embarrassing in front of the media.

It matters to me as a UK fan that we have someone who speaks well. Honestly, Coach Stoops is 5x better speaker and media guy than Harbaugh. I couldn't stand listening to Joker, Tubby or Billy G. in front of the media. I don't even think Coach Cal sounds that bright in front of a camera. He repeats the same thing over and over. Coach Stoops on the other hand offers intriguing insight many times.

This is another reason I really like Coach Stoops. He is actually a really intelligent guy who uses a diverse vocabulary as a football coach.

I know wins is what matters most, but lets be thankful we don't have a coach as much as a goof as Harbaugh. The guy is truly embarrassing in front of the media. The other day he said the beginning of football season is like a mother giving birth to a child. WTF ?

I can't knock the success Harbaugh has experienced at Stanford, SF 49ers, but you are right in saying that CMS is much better in front of the media, camera.

When I first watched that clip of Harbaugh on Cowherd's show, I thought of Ricky Bobby's first on camera interview...

Saban, Belichek, Harbaughs......all are notoriously bad in the media......but all are loved as coaches b/c they win. Sure, I'd love to have someone like Cal who can do it all but media personality is lower on my list.

He is different for sure, but he has been pretty successful in his career. Several successful coaches aren't at their best in front of a camera giving interviews. But with all the success he has had at his previous stops if I were a UM fan I wouldn't mind too much. During Richt's press conferences, he is always polite, courteous to reporters, complimentary to everyone, coaches, players, but he never really says much. just things like working hard, ready to play are almost ready to contribute. They are pretty boring.

Ummm....I hate to tell you, but Saban and Belichek do not regularly make fools of themselves in front of the media like Harbaugh. I have no idea how you can put them in the same boat.

Good Point. Frankly, as long as CMS can reach the success of the Sabens, Harbaughs, et al then I would easily forgive CMS for being a boring interview

I agree. Harbaugh comes off far worse.

As he explained it, he was on his way to the office when he noticed a traffic light wasn’t working; a cop was standing in the middle of a busy intersection, directing cars this way and that way. The female officer displayed such command of the intersection that Harbaugh pulled over to the side of the road, mesmerized.

For half an hour, Harbaugh sat in his car and studied the scene. He was nearly late for practice because he was so enthralled with the skill and the savvy of the traffic cop. “I like to watch people doing their job at the highest level,” he said. “I really do.”

Love this.

He was prob trying to land a phone number.

Anyways it's fitting to have Tom Crean in his family as well. 2 peas in a pod.

That was horrible. Colin is a prick but he really did everything he could to help Jim out in the interview. It was really bad during the end when he said sell you program.. I am a 4.3 WR why should I play for you at Michigan? " you are"?

Really???

If I was a Michigan fan I would be really embarrassed.

That's what I mean...The guy has no clue.

A friend of mine who played for him says he and his brother are two incredible family men, as seemed was his father at WKU and WMU.

I think many men will assume this police officer was hot. Maybe. Maybe not.

Just listened. Hilarious!! After that, I love Jim Harbaugh. Cowherd wants a snake oil salesman and Harbaugh is a football geek. Bye v Buy. Funny stuff!!

I think the interview was hilarious. Cowhurd is a narcissist. He expects everyone to act a certain way towards him. And honestly his questions were rather pathetic. Like when he is a cupcake or what the first thing he was gonna do at Michigan to change.

He's gonna win big at Michigan most likely so who gives a crap about how he deals with the idiotic media.

How did Stanford survive him?

Well they barely did. Their patience was wearing thin when he jumped to the 49ers, but frankly winning cures all ills. Harbaugh has never won anything of consequence, but he has done a good job taking teams to the cusp of greatness. I expect him to get Michigan back there in the next 2-3 years.

Colin Cowherd's babbling cliche questions weren't clear or succinct either:

Blah blah blah blah...When are you a cupcake?
Blah blah blah blah...Is the big ten a buy/bye?
Blah blah blah blah...I'm intense. What's your normal day like?
Blah blah blah blah...You're a part of the community, great no?

Questions that could've been asked:

Assembling a staff... What type of coaches do you like to surround yourself with; technical guys, easy-going guys, experience ranges?

Where are the biggest holes on your current roster?

How do you win back the hearts and minds of young players like Jabril Peppers?

Are there going to be any radical scheme changes on either side of the ball?

While both Harbaughs are goofy and bad with the media, give me the winning over media savvy. You can be aloof with the media as long as you win, just can't do both.

This was a forced media engagement because Fox was carrying the game. They promoted the hell out of Cowhurd last night. I wonder what Cowhurd has said about Harbaugh in the past. Bet there is something there.
