Is DeAaron Fox better than Simmons?

He wanted an offer when he played at EYBL Lexington. Saw an interview with him. Very knowledgable about UK. He's tall and can hit from anywhere. Watched him play several times and wondered why UK didn't pursue.

Like Fox far more then Simmons--and also due to fact he's friendly with AAU teammate Jared Vanderbilt who I think is a LH MKG like player. Sidenote--friend of mine coached a kid who moved to Fox's HS and is friends with him (young man's name is Keilon Price) and word is that if UK offered, Fox would pick them.

Remember this time a year ago Briscoe wasn't being recruited by UK very hard. Things can change in a hurry. I'd not be suprised to see Fox get offered soon

I think Cal knows he'd commit if offered and is keeping that in his back pocket.

Yes, Fox is the better player IMO. Would take him in a New York minute.

Passing this along. I haven't seen enough to make any personal judgment.

I saw the little round table at halftime of the current game on ESPNU. They were debating whether or not Fox was the best overall point guard in the class. The consensus was that he was lighting it up at the Peach Jam.

He is up there with Smith Jr.

To be honest, if their athletic ability is close and both can lead their team similarly, I'd like to see us land the better shooter. I just think the spacing and offense is much better with the added perimeter threat. If the players are close in the other areas then go with the better shooter.

No. I hope we get Simmons and Monk

Fox and Alkins are duo I'd take considering who likely will return to UK. Fox outplayed Dennis Smith when Smith moonlighted with Team Penny in EYBL. He was clearly faster/more athletic and better decision maker. Smith tears up weaker Adidas circuit and struggled on EYBL. Alkins plays same everywhere. Monk is super talented--but Alkins is bigger/more versatile and does more when he's not scoring.

Kobi Simmons is a guy I think UK may slowplay if he keeps playing as poorly as he did this past week.

I would take it a step further and say, even if one is a little more skilled in some other areas, I sill take the better shooter.

Yep, would take Fox and Alkins in a heartbeat. Monk is too good to pass on though. Is an athletic freak who can stroke it.

Consensus on Fox is that it is a two horse race between KU and Texas. Same with Bolden. Depending on who you read, they will tell you that these kids are leaning towards one of these two schools. KU also leads for Ferguson. How likely KU could pull three kids in the same class out of Texas though is the big question.

Bolden will end up at UK if UK & Cal make him a priority. I don't know about Fox. I think Smart will keep a lot of players in-state. I think KU will land Ferguson or Jackson.

Bolden is guy I don't agree with pundits. Seeing him, he's ALWAYS banged up/has built in excuse, has nice footwork offensively but is a horrible defensive player/rebounder. Guy gets caught standing/watching while others fight for contested rebounds. Wake me up when he doesn't have an ailment after a subpar/mediocre performance. Be careful with guys who have potential but questionable toughness/no motor. UK will be very involved with Maker (everyone forgets about him due to the thought of him as a '15) and out of TX bigs, give me Jarrett Allen over Bolden. Allen is tougher.

Allen is going to Texas. I don't know what Cal's interest in Maker is at the time being.

Agree--just saying out of the TX big man prospects, I think Allen is better then Bolden. Actually, I think Schneider Herard has shown better against the big men on EYBL circuit then Bolden--who finds way to exit tough games, where things get physical/heated. BABC has nobody over 6'6 and Bolden punked out of that game with an "ankle injury". Protecting players is nothing new--but here's thing; if you always mention an injury/ailment when kid doesn't play well--you're either lying or putting a young person at risk. Either one is uncalled for. It's just sports. If the kid has an off game or some things to work on, that's completely normal. He's a teenager. If you never make him accept his responsibility for performing poorly or grow up, then it hurts him. To contrast, look at John Petty's comments on his game which he posted on Twitter. He called himself out for not being more efficient from field on jumpshot and needing to improve. Big difference in accountability and type of guys programs like UK target like tend to be tough/thick skinned.

Why do you say that about Bolden? I've read nothing that suggests that.

I'm not holding my breath with Jackson. Everything I've read is this kid may not play college ball.

Bolden's AAU handler is Julius Randle's Godfather and is close to Kenny Payne and the UK program. I'm not sure if Cal will heavily pursue him though. Either way, Kansas will have a good class.
