Is Dane Key a Future NFL star?

I would say yes. Everybody thinks it's very important to have a qb and l think we will, but for years LSU never threw the ball a lot yet they had a bunch of WR drafted very high.

He’s going to have to put it in on film. I don’t know that his 40 time will wow scouts. He’s needs the pass opportunities to show what he can do.

Star may be a strong word. If he gets bigger/stronger and keeps his speed and hands he has a shot to make money.

All comes down to his 40 and the fit with the NFL team that picks him. He doesn't jump off the screen with speed but he definitely isn't slow.

Who knows? I thought Michael Crabtree was gonna be an NFL star and I couldn’t tell you if he’s still playing or not.

Some college star players flame out in the NFL, some unknowns are NFL stars

Crabtree never became a star but he made like 60 million and played for 11 years. I wouldn’t call that a flame out

Key will play in the NFL, and at his reported height of 6’ 4”, has sufficient speed.

We have seen the blossoming of our greatest freshman receiver of all time, with a legitimate shot to double the most productive freshman receiving numbers in program history.

If he keeps working to improve, he will be drafted highly.

Him and Barion Brown have a shot to play on Sundays. Speed kills and both have NFL speed.

I have to disagree on this. We tend to give speed the top billing with WR but the truth is great hands and great route running are more important. Dane runs around a 4.5 which is Micheal Irvin speed. He's 6'3" with great hands. He runs great routes. Jerry Rice was straight up slow but great hands and route running.

I'm not sure about him being a star, too many variables, but I think he'll have a long career.

I don't think you actually disagree. Does his speed jump off the screen? Do you agree there is a point where route running won't make up for speed?

If he runs a 4.5 he will have no issue at all. I'm curious if that's what he runs or if it's close to or even a 4.6. even if it's right at 4.6, I think he finds a role.

Jerry Rice was a 4.7. Skill and size make up for a lot.
