I’m not sure Cal is ‘holding back’ back Reed and Rob. I don’t necessarily agree or disagree with this article, but I do believe this is the main storyline to watch moving forward. There are so many ways this could play out.

Cal has never been one to bend the knee to media and fans and could be too proud too do so which will give him the ‘told ya so’ if we win a title. It could also prove the ‘too stubborn’ argument to be true for media and fans if they fall in their face in March. Or Cal could elect to start both Reed and Rob to a title win and look like a coach who understands that not all of his ‘gut instincts’ are correct which in turn shows his evolution as a coach. Or elect to start both and fall flat on their face causing the biggest riff we have ever seen between he and the fans and media.

Either way, I think we need the title this year so we can mend what has been broken.

Side note: I know this is a naive stance, but for the first time in a very long time, I really feel that there is a possibility of some guys returning, a la Florida b2b title teams, regardless of if they win a title or not. Not the entire squad, but some major contributors.
