Is Antonio Reeves a first team All-SEC candidate?

He absolutely is a first team SEC candidate. He’s not going to have to carry so much of the load this season. Also, he will have several guys that can set him up for open looks. Not to mention, we have some good passing big men as well. There’s much more talent and scoring options beside him this year. They can’t just key on him. Gotta play him straight up.

Canada trip could be fools gold but if he plays the way he did, off the dribble, step backs, going to the rim. Dude had some "oh no he didn't" moments. With the cast he has this we shall see.

All-SEC (1st team) candidate? Yes
All-America candidate? No
This is how I see it.

1. SEC first team
- He'll be best player on UK....which puts you in consideration
- Then it boils down to is UK going to be top 1-3 team in SEC.....I'd argue we will be in top 3 with Tennessee and Texas AM.....that could be a bit optimistic....but I'm a UK fan and see this roster with big Z as improved over last year. If we fall behind Arkansas/Auburn.....then it will be harder for Reeves to be first team
2. Who are the top players for the top team
- Vescovi - Tennessee
- Radford/Taylor/Coleman - Texas AM
- Johni Broome - Auburn
- Tolu Smith for Miss St will put up eons of stats on terrible team and usually one of those guys make it
3. All the transfers are hard to call. Tennesee has Dalton Knecht, Arkansas as Malaki Mitchell

But in the end, Reeves looked so comfortable in Canada and he was our best/2nd best player in league play. I think the roster has quick guards, shot blockers inside galore, etc...I think he weakness (guarding quick players) are better covered with this roster than last and he'll thrive IMO.

I’m just glad he’s on the team for 1 more year. He can win you a game with his shooting and isn’t afraid to take the big shot.

Don't blame that shit show on him. Yeah he was 1 of 12 but everyone sucked that game. Free throws, turnovers and the inability to guard anything cost us.
When you shoot and miss 1of12 3s your the reason you lost in a close game at the last seconds.

Is there 2 or 3 better SGs in the league? That's the question. Usually about 2 or 3 players make the first team at his position.

I don't see it.

Both guys on last years SEC 1st team have returned in Taylor and Vescovi. Also 2nd teamers Green, Zeigler, Sears, and Radford, some of which are point guards.

Then you have new guys like Tramon Mark and Brandon Murray and likely team leaders like Devonte Davis, Rylan Griffen, and Riley Kugel

I still think Taylor and Reeves will get 1st team

It's not like anyone else was making shots, and eventually they just deferred to Tonio, who was the only guy willing to fire at that point. It's not like he was taking terrible shots either, they just weren't going in. Blame him if you want to I guess but you'll never convince me that team didn't have some sort of turmoil going on, and I don't think many of them got along which was the ultimate downfall.
