Iowa State 8 losses #17

Texas still ranked with 10 losses. The B-12 gets may leeway than any conference ever, even though none of them can win the conference from Kansas.

I don't understand the love that the B12 gets from the Media Outlets just like the ACC and even the B10. The SEC never gets the love in Basketball like they do in Football. The SEC Basketball has improved this year with South Carolina, TA&M, LSU, Vandy, UF, and other teams playing better ball. The one problem the teams like Vandy, LSU, and even Miss. State were talked about so much Pr-Season along with UK and TA&M but some of these teams have been disappointments with the players and teams they have this year. The B12 has 7 or 8 teams in the CBS Top 25 and One and most of these teams have 6-8 losses and Texas with 10. Kentucky I believe even with tough losses at Kansas, UT, and at TA&M all on the Road is one in the NCAA Top 25 playing outstanding ball currently even with the injuries we have faced going into the Bama game tomorrow night. We should still be in the Top 10 with the tough loss at TA&M and the crazy "Technical" call and then to top it off the last play to the basket for TA&M took a 3-step to the basket and didn't get he walk. Kentucky and the SEC just don't get the LOVE like B12, ACC, and B10!

No bad losses.

Beaten teams like Iowa (8th in Kenpom), Oklahoma (5th), Kansas (4th)

Granted all of these are home wins but it's still not awful They are 17th in Kenpom and 20th in Sagarin. 16th in BPI

I mean all of the rankings kinda agree with each other. I think 17 is fair.

Somebody help me with this

Easy. Other than the loss to Northern Iowa, everyone they have lost to is a top 25 team. They have also beaten 5 top 25 teams including 3 in the top 10.

Texas is the harder case. They have a few early season bad losses and have traded punches in the Big 12, meaning they have some top 25 wins and losses. I think people are giving them a bit too much credit for their late season improvement.

I dont care who they lost to...you have to won games!!!! You dont lose that many games and still #17..no way to rationalize it

Well they have beaten teams.....good teams.

And of course they are gonna have more losses. They play in a tough conference.

UK has more losses than Arkansas Little Rock. Would anyone in their right mind put them ahead of UK based on that?

It's nice to see that we can talk basketball instead of just being homers.

1. Pretty much everybody is weak this year. Somebody has to fill those spots.

2. A team with losses to UCLA, Ohio State, Auburn and UT has no room to question another team's ranking.

What I don't understand is that after Kansas with 4 losses and OU with 5 losses they rest of the teams have 7 to 10 losses in the CBS TOP 25 and One. Probably one team in the B12 that is playing well is Tubby's team Texas Tech and probably no team in the B12 wants to meet them in the B12 Tourney. Texas has 10 losses and ranked ahead of UK in the CBS rankings. Then you have Texas Tech at 9 losses, Baylor and WVU with 7 losses, Iowa State at 8 losses. Most of these teams are ahead of UK in the rankings and even though we do have 7 losses they have been tough defeats. The Kansas OT, UT - 21 point lead, and TA&M heartbreaking OT loss. We should have won the Auburn, UT, and TA&M all the road if we didn't have letdowns and also if we didn't have picky and touchy fouls from the Refs in the SEC. We should be 23-4 and 11-1 in the SEC and in Top 10 or Top 5. It just amazes me how most of the MEDIA gives the B12, ACC, and B10 the love they get and the SEC gets none. The CBS Top 25 and One Rankings has UK at #21 and TA&M at #26 and thats it. We have a CBS RPI that is #12 but ranks us at #21 and that doesn't make sense and we should be at least #14 if not higher.

The Big 12, actually 10 of course, is declared the best conference pre-season and no matter how many losses they pile up seems to change it. It's blatantly obvious to us UK fans who follow the game so very close. We're a pretty well informed, and highly opinionated fan base. I'm proud to be a part of it, and an alum. KU had no business being in the top 10 and a #2 seed last year as they fairly promptly proved. They'll all go down in flames in the NCAA, just watch and see. No one seems to remember that just a couple of years ago the SEC made up half of the Final 4.

Well yeah they are piling up the losses but it's against each other lol.

Someone has to take an L lol

They get rated that high because of what these teams did outta conferences. It's hard to ignore it.

Are they overrated? Perhaps. Are they the best conference right now? I believe so

Another team which is not in the B12 but another league that gets great LOVE from the Media the ACC and the one team not impressed with except their Defense is Virginia. Virginia is now 21-6 and are the #3 team in the Country and that is according to the CBS Top 25 and One Rankings. Tony Bennett like Coach Cal started 7 years ago for UVA and his first four years they only made it to the NCAA Tourney once and they were beaten in 1st round of tourney. The last 3 years they made it to the NIT 3 years ago and last 2 years won 30 games and and were #1 and #2 Seeds and Michigan State upset them both years in 2nd round and Sweet 16. They have No offense but do have a Defense but just doesn't impress me with there 21-6 and #3 in the Country. Not just because I am huge Big Blue Fan I believe that Kentucky is playing way better than UVA at this time of year even with injuries to Poythress and Willis. That is why I disagree with some of the Rankings and where some of these teams sit right now in the Rankings especially the B12 & the ACC.

From 2010 to 2013, UVA was all defense no offense.

The last three years that hasn't been the case. Ranked 14th this year in offensive efficiency. For a long time this season their offense ranked better than their defense in efficiency (it's now rated 10th)

14th on offense and 10th on defense is a good sign. They will be a final four contender for sure.

The obssession about the number in the "L" column is part of the reason for human poll bias.

A team's W/L record just isn't great at predicting future performance.

How did the SEC do against the Big 12 in the basketball challenge? Wasn't it something like 7-3? That's partly why the SEC doesn't get as much press as the Big 12. And saying, "we should have won..." isn't the same as saying, "we did win..." Iowa State and the rest of the Big 12 by and large won the big non-conference games they played. They started losing when they started playing each other because the teams are good, they have great home courts, and both teams can't walk away with the W.

If the SEC wants to be taken seriously as a conference, they need to do the job in the out of conference games.

The Big 12 is 12-7 vs the SEC
The ACC is 11-8 vs the SEC
Big East is 7-3 vs the SEC
Big Ten is 7-0 vs the SEC
Pac 12 is 6-1 vs the SEC

43-19

That's has to be better.

home wins in college basketball garner way too much credit. road losses garner too much credit too. I guess it all balances out.

Has to be better for what? The SEC sucks every year, and we still do okay.

We have seven losses and other than aTm and Kansas they are all to bad teams. Our fans can be insufferable.
