Facts:

1) Every PG had above a 2:1 AST:TO Ration, was a great facilitator and could knock down open jumpers consistently at least by the end of the year.

2) Every SG could CONSISTENTLY knock down 3's and open Jumpers.

3) Every team had a person at the 3, either a starter or bench guy that could knock down open jumpers consistently.

4) 1-3 were great Free Throw Shooters

A look at UK's Teams:

2010: Guards couldn't knock down Jumpers consistently
2011: Knight was best when he was making shots, wasn't a pass-first guard which is still an issue in the NBA. Our 3's couldn't knock down shots quite consistently enough.
2013: Do I need to say anything?
2014: Harrisons didn't make shots enough and if you really think about it, if they were not hitting shots, they didn't exactly do much more to contribute/facilitate offense.
2015: Once again, if Harrisons and Booker were off, our offense was stagnant and became a "grind it out, Karl Towns" type deal or get into a track meet. Just didn't hit shots consistently.

With all that said, this is why I really like this years team. GUARDS WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS. Ulis and Briscoe are very good natural distributors, and can knock down jumpers consistently. Murray is a very good shooter from what I have seen. Mulder is a 3pt Specialist and Matthews from what I am hearing is a much better shooter than he gets credit for. One of the most overrated things we have focused on is having "awesome defenses". You win games by putting that orange ball in the hoop. Because of the Zone aspect of the college game, you gotta have 1-3's that can shoot and stretch defenses consistently. That's the formula for the past 5 champs. Great offense trumps great defense...and its not just basketball now, its all sports. Hell look at the Warriors and New England this year.... Look at OSU v. Bama, TCU v. Ole Miss. Sports in general right now is Offensive-minded.... Now if you can play defense in addition, its great, but to me to win a CBB title you HAVE to be able to score at a high level, and more importantly score from the perimeter consistently, which is why I personally believe given the landscape of CBB in 2015 and this teams makeup, its more suited to win a title over last years makeup and landscape of CBB. Last years team is better as a whole, but IMO lacked that perimeter scoring ability, which I believe this years team will have.

Just something interesting to think about...
