First up, Kentucky will take on Team Germany on Wednesday, July 12th. Most of Germany’s players are guys who’ve attended overseas colleges and/or played professionally, but they do have one notable name in Simonas ‘Simas’ Lukosius.

A 6-foot-6 guard/forward from Lithuania, Lukosius began his American college career at Butler as a class of 2021 recruit. He averaged 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 21.6 minutes per game as a freshman.

This past season, Lukosius averaged 11.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.0 steals in 33.3 minutes per game. He shot 42.6% from the field and 37.8% from deep on 4.9 attempts per outing.

Anybody got a take in the competition ?

I'm hoping once the boys settle in the speed and athletic ability will take over.. REGARDLESS I'm very curious to see how they play defense.. This will be KEY moving forward. Feel like we haven't had a great defensive team for awhile.

Germany, seeing how inexperienced we are:

When I read Baylor went 1-4 in this event last year I thought rot roh. Who knows. The first game should be very telling.
Calipari is already setting expectations low, pointing out that Baylor played in the GLOBL JAM last summer and came away with a 1-4 record. “There’s a chance we go 0-4,” Calipari said. “Did we learn? Did we get better? Do we all walk away and say, ‘I’m loving this, we’re all gonna be fine’? Because we’re playing against those older teams.”

That Baylor squad ultimately finished the 2022-23 season as a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, ranked No. 11 in the final Associated Press poll. So, the wins and losses won’t hold any importance, and the Cats’ record in Canada probably won’t even say much about what the Wildcats will be a few months from now. Or, more importantly, what they’ll be capable of next March. There should still be plenty to learn from this trip north, however, especially with another No. 1-ranked recruiting class that features quite a bit of mystery.

Any ones guess with a cal coached team hopefully the assistants continue to coach in the preseason.

They have 2 seven footers and a wing that was successful at Butler and went in the portal to Cincinnati …looking forward to these games …last year Bahamas was boring because it was so noncompetitive …awesome game for the middle of July

Interesting piece I heard on one of the countless podcasts I listen to is that during the inaugural GLOBL Jam last year, all of the teams were prepping for some version of a world championship or something. So moreorless the rosters may not be as high of quality as compared to last year.

As an example team Canada had Bediako (Bama), Carr (Texas), Nembhard (Creighton), Leonard Miller (4*, top 30 HS kid we recruited), plus several more power 5 college guys.

Not seeing that based of Canada roster this year. I think all of those guys are in NBA summer league right now.

I don’t think there is a lot to glean from these games for multiple reasons.

But one thing we can definitely see in these games is whether or not this team has a will to fight back and compete. Do they prioritize winning and act accordingly, whether they are winning or losing?

I’m hoping they do. To me, that’s been the single most missing ingredient to success over the last 4-5 years.

How long is Canada allowed to be on the team? Dude should be 30 by now.
