Incredible finish: Elon overcomes 8 point deficit with :16 left to play

Sorry but that foul call was atrocious.
He jumped sideways into the player that was jumping away from him, and not only that he used the ball to make contact. So the other guy was jumping away from the shooter and fouled the ball. Refs should be removed from further action.

UNC came from 8 down with 17 seconds left against Duke to send the game to OT, where they won. And that was in 74, with no 3 pointer.

There are all kinds of mathematical models now for expected win % based on score and time left in the game. I'd be curious what the single most improbable comeback ever was according to those models.

Of course not quite the same thing based on the amount of time left, but our comeback against LSU is right there with all-timers. We had a whole half.I was trying to think of when that UNC comeback was.

When you look at it frame-by-frame the ref is only looking at his feet I imagine to see if it was going to be a 3pt attempt. Only when the ball is entirely out the guys hands does the ref's head/eyes come up to look at the players. One of those horrible reaction calls.

Wish I'd watched that one, crazy ending.

Anyone here that watched this one?

20. Kyle Macy vs. Kansas, 1978-79 regular season: UK seemed hopelessly beaten, down six with 31 seconds left. Then Dwight Anderson sparked a comeback. His steal set up Macy for a game-tying jumper with three seconds left. After the Jayhawks took a technical foul for calling a time out they didn't have, Macy rolled in the free throw to give the Cats a 67-66 win.

I was living in Tennessee when that happened and I listened on the radio. I was walking about campus trying to get a clear reception, which I was not getting. At one point, I lost the reception and had to wait what seemed like a LONG time to find out that we had indeed won the game.

Everyone in the crowd looks like they were dressed for church and left their coats on. Place looks depressing.

That needs to be clarified. There is no way that a player who is moving away -- fleeing the area -- should be called for a foul. Hunting the foul at that level should. in fact, be a foul. Akin to flopping. That includes leg kicks.

Didn't Dook do something similar to Maryland in the mid to late 90's or early 2000's?
Yeah, it was during Jay Williams' years, but I think they had a little more time. I'm not 100% sure, but I recall they were down 10 with something like a minute to go.

Agreed. See this all too often. However, it might have been a tough call because, as a poster mentioned earlier, the ref is looking to see if it was a 3 or a 2.

We had a pretty good one down at Florida one season under tubby.

Also Louisville against Tennessee in Pitino's first year there was pretty epic. They came back from 8 down with like 18 seconds to go.

Edit: Just looked it up and it was 6 points with 33 seconds left. Louisville hit three 3's in the last 33 seconds to win by 1.

Who was the foul on? One guy was crowding the shooter and the other was coming at him while the shooter was leaning away from the other defender and tried getting away from him.

I remember that game. I turned off my VCR because I thought the game was over. When I got to the final 2 minutes of the game, I had nothing on tape but we were so far down, I figured I was saved from watching us having lost. Imagine how I felt when I found out that we came back and won that one?

Top 5 worst foul calls I've ever seen... Show me a guy who shoots his normal jumper like that, and I'll say good call, but I've never seen a college athlete shoots a jumper that way. Embarrassing that the refs would grant him that call.
