Impressive Cal stat

I fear that Self has gained some momentum. The last two times Cal faced him, Self threw out his usual playbook and threw unconventional looks at Cal. Cal did not adjust. Cal had them on the ropes in Rupp in January in the first half and Self slowed it down and made Cal play a half court game. I give Self credit, he realized he did not have the horses to run with Fox and Monk, so he pulled the reins back on Mason and company. Very smart. Had to be hard to admit that even though you are an elite level school you don't have the best athletes on the floor.

Just wins are vacated. Losses stay on the books. But don't quote me on this.
Why would a team that lost be penalized because the winning team gained an unfair advantage ? And if it was recorded as a loss would you not have to record who won ?
O wait it's an ncaa decision hell they will screw it up somehow.

Cal must've had a huuuuge talent advantage against those elite coaches.

Did he start gaining momentum when we took them to overtime at the Phog two years ago?

Or was it only last year when they beat us with a gimpy Fox?

Don't get me wrong, injured Fox or not, we should have found a way to win last year. But it's hard for me to see that one loss as "momentum."

Cal is 0 for something against Higgins,he needs to work on that:D(Cal has probably won at least one game that Higgins officiated but not the ones that count the most)

Self out coached Cal those two games, IMHO. I know Fox was gimpy. We were on the verge of blowing them out when Self made the adjustment and slowed the pace. It was the only strategy to employ. Cal did not adjust.

Fox being gimpy didn't lose that game for us, IMHO.

Cal is still a great coach, but great coaches sometimes get out coached.

You just quoted him on that.

You thought Self outcoached Cal when we took them to OT at their place? OK.

Self can have the two close wins in non-Final Four years (for both programs). I'll take the national title game and the 32-point beatdown any day.

Yes. Cal couldn't solve the junk defense he threw at him where they shadowed Murray and made the rest of the team try to win it against the zone. Good strategy. Not saying Cal didn't do a good job there, but Self did a better job in that game, IMHO.

Now, I still wouldn't want Self over Cal. Cal is the better coach. I just think Self has gotten the better of Cal the last two games.

Ok well, I would argue that taking the unbeatable Jayhawks to overtime on their home floor, despite close to 50 free throws for the bad guys, it would be hard to say the coach who did that got outcoached.

Seems to me that Self had to pull out all the stops (and get help from the refs) to escape by the skin of his teeth in a game he was well favored to win.

But if you see that as better coaching, well, whatever.
