Why? First, he might be able to graduate after next year. Second he deserves to win a championship - while I am not giving up on this year - next year's team has the makings of 2012 team. Third, he will not hurt himself in draft. While I think he may be best point guard in the country - his size will still be a challenge in pros.

He is the most watchable and fun player at UK in my lifetime. not saying he is the best player - without a doubt he is one of the smartest, court savvy kid I have ever seen. Many of his turnovers aren't his fault. Example: if Murray makes the cut to the basket, Murray could have had an uncontested dunk at KU.

Hope everyone will remember what he did while he was here. He truly is one of a kind.

Go Big Blue!

I wouldn't say it's about him hurting himself in the draft. He could improve next year and still fall simply because it's a much deeper draft, not just from the college perspective but international as well.

ETA: After what Porzingis is doing this season I'm sure we'll see extra hype around international players for a few years.

I think he needs to strike while the irons hot. He more than likely will not improve his stock much with another year and next year draft will be much deeper than this year's. He will also be splitting time with Fox next year and that could hurt his draft stock. Cal is not the type of Coach to have the #1 PG recruit in the country come in and sit on the bench. Fox will play and that could hurt Tyler's stock going into a deeper draft pool. I don't think Tyler will stay, he will likely make the jump, IMO. I'd say that he at least tests the waters to see where he stands and then makes a decision late.

I think he will be back. How many other 5'8 players have entered the draft after their sophomore year? There's been some very good ones, and most stay all 4 years. That said I think Tyler comes back next year to be a part of a special team and to win a championship, then leaves.

If someone told me to wait one more year to make millions..

i'll tell them "F off."

just saying.

But instead he just stood there and we ended up losing the game. We could have, should have won right there.

Just depends on where his personal priorities are. Should UK not win it all this year and that leaves an empty taste in his mouth he might decide to come back and give it another shot as next year UK would be one of the top favorites without him and with him the most likely overall favorite. In the days where everyone is in a hurry to get a contract as soon as you can, lost is the ideology that for a kid college is a once in a lifetime experience Aside from the money in their bank accounts, I bet a vast majority of these one and dones will look back on their careers after all is said and done and wish they would have stayed in school longer for a variety of different reasons.

I'm not ready to give up the fact that he can win his title THIS SEASON. lol

As far as the other stuff players come back to school alot at UK once they left. We've heard of some former guys doing that. He doesn't have to stay to get his degree.

Part of the reason Patterson came back was for those reasons above but also he wanted to work on his outside game. I just don't know if there's a chance for Tyler to really get much better at something than he already is.

I think he's gone IMO.

5'8" players stay all four years because they don't get drafted, period. If Tyler can get drafted, I see little reason (from a basketball perspective) to stay longer. His biggest negative is his height. He isn't going to improve his height with more time in college. He may choose to come back for personal reasons, but "getting more ready for the NBA" isn't much of a reason. He's as ready as he's going to get.

I think if he is guaranteed a 1st round pick, he should go. If he's told you'll never be a first rounder (because of his height), he needs to get closer to his degree - but it's his choice of course.

2016 is a weak draft for the NBA and for PG's. If Ulis continues to play like he has over the last 5-6 games and is averaging close to 20ppg and close to 10 assists a game he is going to continue to move up in the 2016 NBA Draft. Ulis already has been moving up this year since the start of the season. His numbers for last 5-6 games continue to go up then he will end up in the 1st round of 2016 NBA Draft. In the 2017 NBA Draft is a strong draft and more guards and Point guards will be in the 2017 NBA Draft. I look for Ulis to go this year if he continues to move up in 2016 Draft and is in the 1st Round of the Draft.

It will be shocking if he doesn't leave. But, despite all the great talent coming in next season, history suggests that the best chance to win the National Championship would take an experienced player like Ulis. So, I hope he returns.

Sure, he may not hurt himself in the draft with his on court performance, but the fact that he would be turning away a weak draft for a strong draft would absolutely hurt his draft stock.

Any type of rationalization that Tyler will be back is just that. Next year's draft is loaded, and that's reason enough for him to take advantage of this year's weak draft. Combine that fact with how well he's playing this year and it's basically a given that he should leave. As fans, we can lists reasons for him to stay until we're blue in the face, but it's his life and his decision that he has to consider. Only way he returns is if he wants to have another crack at a title and possibly an historic team. And for our sake I hope he does return. I refuse to get my hopes up though.

isiaah thomas was 5'9.. just saying... he's gone.

I wanted to see if anyone posted this before I replied to the OP. You're exactly right. People may debate whether Tyler is actually 5' 9" but regardless you've got Thomas in the NBA All Star game and others Tyler's size have made it in the NBA as well. He isn't going to grow so I support him big time if this is his last year. He's a great kid and I wish him the best regardless of what he does.

There's legit reasons to stay in college, ask WCS. He stayed when he was almost assuredly a first round pick, maybe a lotto.

that being said, it's easier to make that decision when you are 7 feet tall. Coupled with a weak draft, he should go this year. I hate to say it, because I selfishly want to watch him.

Also, mark my words: Ulis will coach UK someday. I may be dead by then though.
